232w ago - According to a Fortune report, PlayStation boss Kaz Hirai that said the bigger PlayStation Network may debut next Spring.
Sony's CEO Howard Stringer has also dropped hints on the PlayStation Network expansion, which is said to include a broader service, leaping from the PSP and PlayStation 3 to Sony branded televisions and other gadgets.
To quote: The service is said to make Sony devices "talk to each other efficiently," according to Stringer, that it will make it easier to handle digital camera images, edit video, share content and store whatever it is you download from a Sony device.
Fortune also reports that Sony has designs on making acquisitions that would "accelerate the effort," but plans to "start small" and roll out the new PlayStation Network over time.
271w ago - SCEA has announced that they are expanding the availability of the PlayStation Network cards. As of October, the cards will be available from popular retailers such as Walmart, Best Buy, and select Sam's Club outlets.
To quote: Today, Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced they're "expanding the availability of the popular PlayStation Network Cards to additional major retailers nationwide this holiday season."
The cards allow you to bypass the Need for a credit card; you simply purchase the Network Card at the retailer (sure, use cash), bring it home, then dump the money into your virtual wallet for the Store.
And starting in October, these Cards will be available at Walmart, Best Buy, and select Sam's Club outlets. Sony will add Barnes & Noble College Bookstores in November, which should come as good news to all you university students out there.

As you probably already know, there will be a Home Expanded BETA opening it's doors to a group of lucky PS3 owners by the end of the summer. While European Playstation owners have received confirmation E-mails as well as previous Home BETA testers, the rest of us are stuck wondering when we will receive our shot to expierence the revolutionary social gaming application. Well, I think I may have the answer you looking for.
Today at 7:50 PM (EST) I dialed the number for SCEA Consumer Support. I was greeted by a woman named Betty. I asked Betty "When is the Home expanded beta going to be released?". Silence struck my ear for two or three seconds. Then Betty exclaimed, "August 26!". Could this be true? I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming (don't worry I wasn't).
I asked Betty the question again and she replied with the same answer. Suddenly, Betty said something suspicious. She said "Oops!". As I thought in my head what she meant by oops, I started to get nervous. Betty went on to tell me that she wasn't suppose to tell me that the beta was to come out on August 26th.
After hanging up with Betty I called SCEA several more times. The...
