4w ago - Following up on the previous PS4 RLOD and PS4 Freezing & Overheating reports, today a new batch of PlayStation 4 bricking (such as THIS one) and failures has surfaced alongside a PS4 Launch Errors List and Fixes below.
To quote: Here's a list of issues plaguing the PlayStation 4 at launch, and how to fix them.
Astro A50s: Cannot Hear Other People Speaking
Everything appears to be hunky-dory with the Astro A50s, with the sound coming through the headphones just as you would expect, except for received chat audio. You can talk through the headset, but you can't hear others speaking.
A possible fix for this issue is to do the following:
1. Hold Home Button
2. Adjust Devices
3. Output to headphones -> All Audio
DualShock 4 R1 Button Sticking
There are several reports that units of the DualShock 4 appear to sport defective R1 buttons. After just a few hours of play, the R1 button seems to stick.
198w ago - Yesterday's PS3 PSN errors8001050F (hardware failure) and 80029513 (invalid copyright protection information) have now been confirmed as remedied by countless users as PSN is restored.
PlayStation 3 models prior to the PS3 Slim unit that launched last fall were unable to launch games or connect to the PlayStation Network.
The date bug appears to have been fixed by Sony, who many feel simply waited it out until their servers updated with the March 2, 2010 date.
For those who are still having problems with syncing PS3 Trophies, user eLGee of NeoGAF has provided a fix, to quote:
1. Disable and re-enable Internet connection, test it and set the clock.
2. Connect to PSN.
3. If any trophies don't show up, start the game, exit and resync the trophies. For some games, you might have to play for a minute or so and then exit.
Finally, Sony has posted an official follow-up announcement...
218w ago - Just a day after the rumor that Mass Effect 2 was slated to hit PS3 in 2010 came a second based on a listing from EA's Russian Web site for Left 4 Dead 2.
Today EA has confirmed to VG247.com (linked above) that both listings are an error, and have now been corrected. Whether both titles will stay exclusive to Microsoft in the future or not remains to be seen.
To quote: "Listing has been taken down. It's now a Xbox 360 only game again.
EA insist both listings for Mass Effect 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 were posted in error."
233w ago - OK, do you remember the OLD PS3 Backup Tool? I've updated it, and now you can successfully write mixed backups on your PS3.
The new method mixes not all parts like before, but only half. Doing so, the PS3 recognizes the backup and restore, not only the "Integral" part, but even the part (50%) you added.
So the new formula is:
archive.dat + archive_XX.dat = INJECTOR
archive2.dat + archive2_XX.dat = DATA TO WRITE
You need the INJECTOR to begin the Write process. If you don't add Archive2.dat to your backup the PS3 writes the INJECTOR only. You need to create yourself the INJECTOR, in fact, it's unique for backups. If you have an old INJECTOR you can use it.
Here's a video demonstrating the process, with a guide below:
== HOW TO ==
1) Switch on your PS3
2) Go to Settings -> System Settings -> Backup
3) Connect a USB Drive or a Memory Stick to PS3
4) Select it in Backup utility
5) Make a Backup
6) Copy it to your Desktop
7) Delete backup from the USB Device or Memory Stick
8) Connect it...
260w ago - An unexplained error related to PS3 Trophy synchronization is breaking a number of games on the console.
The error, which seems to have first struck after the release of firmware version 2.50, appears to occur when users change their PSN ID or password.
After doing so, their Trophy data becomes corrupt and running a select number of games brings up an error that notifies the user of a failure to sync Trophy data. In the worst of cases, the game forces the player to quit and "try again", only to repeat the same message.
Known affected titles include WipEout HD, Burnout Paradise, LittleBigPlanet and Pain.
The first complaints hit forums back in October and, having gone unfixed for so long, it has left many doubtful that a patch will come before the Christmas break, when those PS3s should be getting a considerable hammering.
A Sony community man posting under the alias 'MusterBuster' only just this week said: "A fix is on the way, but I don't have an ETA yet".
Firmware update 2.53, released earlier this month, didn't fix the problem.
CVG has contacted Sony for an official statement. Hopefully we'll have some good news for you before the day's out.
Otherwise, there is one suggested fix that has worked for some titles. Bit of a pain...
