PlayStation Store Gets Discount Code Feature for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita

100°
1w ago - Following today's scheduled PSN maintenance update, users have now confirmed that Sony's PlayStation Store now offers a Discount Code feature for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita platforms.

Below are the details, to quote: "After today's PSN maintenance, which incidentally ended early, the PlayStation Store got an interesting addition: a field for "10-digit discount code" has been added to the cart on the web and mobile storefronts.

This feature is normally present in most online stores, with codes distributed as part of promotions, as purchase incentives or simply as bonuses to previous orders, but it wasn't supported by the PlayStation Store before.

At the moment we don't know how extensively the feature will be used or when the codes will start appearing in the wild, but considering that we're approaching the Holiday Season, it's definitely promising."

Spelunky Update: New Features Now Live on PS4, PS3 and PS Vita

100°
2w ago - Sony Lead Account Manager Nick Suttner announced news of new features now live on their Spelunky update for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: With Spelunky finally making its glorious PS4 debut last month - hopefully you were able to grab it free in PlayStation Plus while it lasted! - there are more explorers than ever plumbing the depths of the jungle, battling incensed shopkeepers, and dying in an endless cavalcade of unexpected and hilarious ways.

For those new players still feeling overwhelmed, be sure to check out my Survival Guide from last year; a few basic tips go a long way, and the experience is even more fun when you're sharing tactics and stories of your travels with friends.

Speaking of sharing, you may have noticed that the PS4 has a few killer new features, including the ability to watch full replays of anyone's Daily Challenge run straight from the leaderboards, as well as seeing where your friends died (and what killed them) in the Daily Challenge, represented by their ghost. I'm thrilled to be able to announce that those features have been added to the PS3 and PS Vita versions, available now via a free update!

Not only that, but...

Sony Announces Dragon Age: Inquisition is Great for Newcomers

100°
3w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements announced today that Dragon Age: Inquisition is great for newcomers to PS4 and PS3.

To quote: [Register or Login to view links], the latest chapter in BioWare's sweeping fantasy saga, wastes no time beginning its urgent, world-splitting story.

Truth be told, the developers have sewn a great amount of detail onto the main menu alone. Starting a new game catapults the idyllic scene of a snowy peace summit into utter devastation. And that's just the menu.

For those who have followed previous chapters of Dragon Age, the story is dense and rich with lore. But when a seething, green portal opens in our world and welcomes in legions of demons, players have a straightforward cause to rally behind.

In Dragon Age: Inquisition, players follow the story of a survivor that emerges from this demonic blast (almost) unscathed. The site of the explosion had been host to a peace summit organized by Divine Justinia, who sought an end to the strife between mages and Templars. With those plans wholly awry, the main character – the Inquisitor – is tasked with upholding Justinia's legacy and hunting down the demonic agents haunting the realm.

Below are the details, to quote: Hi everyone, before I dig into today's blog post, I wanted to invite you to tune in to tonight's Extra Life livestream at 5:00 pm PT, where I will personally guide fans through a live demo of our studio's upcoming open-world game - The Tomorrow Children.

We're really excited to participate in the Extra Life program and hope as many of you as possible can stop by to check out the first look at gameplay footage from The Tomorrow Children!

But for right now, I'm going to talk a little about the tech behind The Tomorrow Children. Hopefully you've all seen the trailer and are wondering how the glory we managed to get that crazy surreal look we have.

When the project started we had a meeting with Mark Cerny and he said "I want Q-Games to do something that's a little... outside the box." So I took that to heart and decided to use the PS4's awesome compute power to drive three things: Cinematography, Lighting, and Geometry.

Cinematography

So I...
