1w ago - Following up on their previous update and today's PSN Store updates, Sony has now made available 31 new PS4 Themes which include several Dynamic PlayStation 4 Themes with details below.

Download: PS4 Themes Preview Screens

To quote: "Today Sony Computer Entertainment released a whopping 31 new themes for the PS4 on the PlayStation Store.

Interestingly, the new themes aren’t made by Sony, but by independent developers like Disruptive Media Publishers, Smobile and Virtual Burger, pretty much like it happened with the PS3. This means that in the future we can probably expect a constant stream of new themes by third parties, as with Sony’s older console.

Below you can see a full list with prices (unfortunately there are no new free themes) and a gallery with all the screenshots provided by Sony.

3d Dynamic Galaxy G Theme – $3.49
3d Dynamic Galaxy Theme P – $3.49
3d Dynamic Meteor Theme – $3.49

Sony Offers a Closer Look at LittleBigPlanet 3's New PS4 Characters

32w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton offers a closer look today at LittleBigPlanet 3's new PS4 characters with details below, as follows:

One of the big surprises of E3 week was seeing LittleBigPlanet 3 unveiled live on stage during the PlayStation media briefing.

If you haven't got yourself up to speed already, Sackboy is all set to make his PS4 debut this November. Along with a raft of new features for Create mode, the major new additions to the series come in the form of three new playable characters: Swoop, Oddsock and Toggle.

"We've spent a long time working on the characters," explained XDev's Pete Smith backstage at LA. "Not just making sure that they look distinctive but also that they each offer unique gameplay. That, for me, is the big thing.

We want people to go 'Wow, they really change up the game, and I can create totally new experiences with them'.

"We were also keen to make sure that they were very iconic from a silhouette point of view, so that when you look at them together you can instantly tell them apart. Yet we still wanted them to feel like they were part of the Sackboy family, rather than just a watered down version of the same character."

Indeed, having played through hugely enjoyable E3 demo a few times over, I can confirm that...

Sony Offers Harmonix History Lesson: The Origins of Amplitude

50°
36w ago - Sony Product Manager Annette Gonzalez offered fans a Harmonix history lesson today outlining the origins of Amplitude.

To quote: It all began with a geometrical sketch on a white board.

Imagine if you had an octogonal tunnel covered in data. Musical data. Represented over time and space. The player controls a futuristic cyber ship floating through a three-dimensional wireframe.

Notes representing particular sounds from a song are represented across multiple tracks in gems. Beatmatching along these tracks and blasting away the gems releases these sounds, allowing the player to weave in various elements of the song and make music.

This would eventually become what we now know as FreQuency, the 2001 rhythm-action title released on PlayStation 2.

FreQuency made strides in innovation with its addictive, fast-paced, and undoubtedly challenging beatmatching gameplay (both single and multiplayer). FreQuency was also one of the first games to support the PS2 Network Adapter.

Though a title loved by fans, FreQuency didn't quite sell.

"When FreQuency shipped we thought it was going to be huge," said Greg LoPiccolo, Chief...
