To quote: The FPS legend that started it all returns this May! Today we're excited to announce that Wolfenstein: The New Order will arrive on both PS4 and PS3 on Tuesday, May 20th.

And while we're not talking about the game yet, we're excited to announce that with a pre-order of Wolfenstein: The New Order, you will be able to access the beta for the next DOOM game (details at Wolfenstein.com/DOOM).

Wolfenstein marks the first Bethesda-published game to arrive on PS4, and will be available on PlayStation Store day 1 for both PS4 & PS3. Developed by MachineGames, a studio comprised of a seasoned group of developers recognized for their work creating story-driven games, Wolfenstein: The New Order is a reimagining of the FPS franchise from id Software.

The game offers a deep narrative packed with action, adventure and first-person combat rendered in stunning detail with id Software's id Tech 5 engine. And typical of a classic Wolfenstein game, expect plenty of hidden secrets, too.

Id Software Talks Doom 3: BFG Edition - The Full Experience on PS3

300°
95w ago - Sony Content Producer Simon Bramble interviewed Eric Webb of Id Software today, who discussed Doom 3: BFG Edition - the full experience on the PS3 entertainment system!

Below are the details, to quote: Doom 3: BFG Edition is set to launch on PS3 in October of 2012, bringing with it the first two games in the iconic series.

It means you'll be able to play the entire Doom series on PS3 for the first time and see for yourself why many consider these games to be some of the most influential shooters of all time.

We caught up with Eric Webb, producer from game developer id Software, at E3 2012 to talk about how the game has been buffed up for PS3.

PlayStation.Blog: How do you think all three games stand up today on PS3?

Eric Webb, Producer, Doom 3: BFG Edition: I think they all stand up really well. One of the first things we did when we first started work on it was pay attention to how the controls feel.

There€s something about the DualShock 3 controller and its dual analog sticks that feels really good when you€re holding it in a game like this. It gives it a different life and almost makes it an entirely new experience. So I think it€s really cool on PS3.

Video: Doom PSP Homebrew Game Running on PS Vita via HBL

1300°
120w ago - It wasn't long ago that we saw a Sega emulator running on PlayStation Vita, and now homebrew developer wololo has shared a video of the Doom PSP homebrew game running on PS Vita though the Half Byte Loader (HBL).

To quote: A year and a half ago when I got Doom for PSP to run on the PSP Go, website hackaday noticed it and said “[being able to run Doom is] a prerequisite for any cracked device”. Some people try to run Linux on their hardware at all cost, I prefer Doom.

Today I was able to tweak HBL a bit on the PS Vita to get Doom to run on it. Will I get hackaday’s attention this time too? That’s, hands down, the best fps available on the vita so far, check the video below!

We are aware that this hack will be easily patched by Sony, but we still plan to publicly release it some time soon after the US/EU release of the Vita (we still have to port HBL to the EU/US versions of the game but that shouldn’t have any difficulty).

I also know that some devs are already working on solutions to make it “easier” for people who would want to stay on a low firmware....

PS3 Doom Homebrew Port is Now Available for JailBreak Users

178w ago - Today xttl has released a PS3 Doom homebrew port v0.01 with source code for JailBreak users, followed by v0.02 which also includes sound support and some more updates below.

Download: PS3 Doom Homebrew Port v0.01 with Source Code / PS3 Doom Homebrew Port v0.02 with Source Code / PS3 Doom Homebrew Port v0.03 with Source Code / PS3 Doom Homebrew Port v0.04 with Source Code / PS3 Doom Homebrew Port v0.05

To quote: v3 is now out. Sound effects should work pretty much perfectly now, there's a simple launcher that will allow you to select an IWAD if you have multiple ones available (no PWADs yet, and the launcher menu only lists the first 10 IWADs it finds which can happen if you have duplicates of them on different storage devices) and in case an error happens after graphics have been initalized, you'll see the error message on screen. (not just via ethernet debugging if enabled).

I also switched the license to GPLv2 now...
