Dynasty Warriors and Romance of the Three Kingdoms series developer Koei is bringing their popular MMORPG, Uncharted Waters Online, to the PlayStation 3 in Japan during 2009.

According to Siliconera, the game is based off the Uncharted Waters series of games, the first of which was released on the Super NES in 1992.

This MMO sends players into the ocean, but not as pirates. Taking cues from history, Uncharted Waters is set in the Age of Discovery when Europe explored the seas- picking one of six nationalities, and one of the three basic classes in order to engage in trading, exploration and sea battles.

No information regarding pricing or subscription fees have been released at this time. Sadly, Uncharted Waters Online and its expansion (Cruz del Sur) are currently available only in Asia, so it seems unlikely this PS3 version would make it into the Western market.

We know some of you put off playing Grand Theft Auto IV when it launched earlier this year on "video game consoles" – instead, preferring to wait for the inevitable PC port.

After all, if there was any chance of some hidden hot coffee action, the PC would be platform of discovery. So you waited. And waited. And finally word came through the tubes that GTA IV would see a PC release on November 18th of this year.

Now, if listings on popular online video game retailers like Amazon and GameStop are any indication, we're hoping you circled that date on your Friends of GTA charity calendar in pencil because you may be in for a two-week delay.

We put a request out to Rockstar early this morning and have yet to hear back, leading us to believe this del... More »

Just when you thought it was safe to convert to Windows Vista, Microsoft changes its mind, again. This soap opera is getting to be a little old.

In early October, Microsoft admitted that it didn't discontinue XP in June after all, and would continue selling via system builders through January 2009. This is accomplished via "downgrade" rights: Dell, for example, will sell you a system with Windows XP Professional installed, but it also includes the latest version of Vista.

Meanwhile, you can still buy boxed XP at Amazon, among other places. The June deadline in itself was an extension, and there's some suggestion that, for corporate customers at least, Microsoft may extend the extension of the extension.

Looking a little further down the line, Microsoft may make Vista irrelevant with the release of Windows 7, which could come as early as 2010. Does anyone seriously expect MIS departments to invest in conversion costs and new hardware, a Vista requ... More »

One of the things I remember from this year’s E3 is when Jack Tretton said that the year 2008 is the year where the PlayStation 3 will rise up to its competitiors. With the launching of the PlayStation Video Store this year, and LittleBigPlanet finally approaching by the end of the year, is 2008 really the year of the PlayStation 3?

The PlayStation 3 has lost a lot of third party exclusive games this year such as Devil May Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto IV, Ace Combat 6, Tales of Vesperia, and Star Ocean 4, but this doesn’t stop Sony from going. Even though Sony has lost the faith of its third party developers, they have big studios all around the world to bring you first party exclusive titles that we await this year, such as Resistance 2 and LittleBigPlanet.

Will these first party titles of Sony be enough to sustain the glory that the PlayStation brand once had? Will this year’s Holiday titles be enough? With 111 days left before year 2009 kicks in,... More »

With the PlayStation 3 40GB model slowly being phased out, it’s time to make room for a brand-new addition to the PS3 hardware lineup - an Uncharted Drake’s Fortune PS3 bundle.

In North America specifically, it’s slated to hit in November at an MSRP of $499.99 and includes the aforementioned game, a voucher for PSN title PAIN, a DualShock 3 wireless controller, and a 160GB hard drive.

Over in Europe, the bundle is due out October 31. Configuration-wise there will be no difference, aside from the fact that it’ll include an “additional PSN title,” according to SCEE, which may or may not be PAIN.

Sony was quick to mention that this bundle will retain “all the same functionality” as the new 80GB that’s popping up on retail shelves here in the U.S. That means no backwards compatibility, but you should be used to that now.

Always enjoy following this stuff... think this is a legitimate discovery or yet another hoax?

To quote: On Friday at a hotel in Palo Alto, Calif., a pair of Bigfoot hunters say they will present what they contend is the most definitive proof yet of an animal that science says does not exist: DNA evidence and photographs of a dead specimen they say they found in a remote swath of woods in northern Georgia.

“It was very frightening at first,” said Rick Dyer, 31, a former corrections officer who — coincidentally — runs a business that offers Bigfoot tours. “And it got even more frightening when you saw the others.”

Indeed, Mr. Dyer said he and his partner, Matthew Whitton, saw three more of the beasts nearby as they dragged the body of said creature out of the woods. Moreover, Mr. Dyer says he has video clips and photographs to prove it.

One photograph provided to the news media showed what resembled a goril... More »

James Price, part of the team at Piggyback finishing up 'Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots: The Complete Official Guide' has given his top 12 tips for the game.

1. Life Gauge

Keeping the Life Gauge topped up is vital, but it’s just as important not to panic and keep filling the gauge unnecessarily with precious items. Though you can replenish it with healing objects such as Rations and Noodles, you should take care not to waste them – especially on higher difficulty levels. Using a Ration when Snake’s Life Gauge is 80% full, for example, is plain foolish. You usually don’t need to even think about refilling the gauge until it drops below 25%. During boss fights or difficult skirmishes, you should instead equip Rations, Noodles or Regain and position them as an “active” item. Once Snake’s health reaches zero, these will be automatically used until your stocks are exhausted.

One other method of restoring Snake’s health ... More »
