To quote: As many UK gamers will no doubt be aware, the annual EGX show kicks off at Earls Court in London tomorrow morning and, as ever, PlayStation will have a really strong presence.

For the benefit of those heading down to the event over the next four days, here's a quick summary of some of the highlights.

To quote: Since taking over as stewards of the Spider-Man console gaming franchise, we've seized the opportunity to explore new territory with each game release.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on PS3 and PS4 created a great opportunity to build and improve on something rather than starting from a blank slate. The gameplay walkthrough we've prepared for you today shows off some of the ways we've gone about doing that, but I'd also like to briefly flesh out some of those details with a little more context.

The new mechanics of web-swinging are more than just a visual tick, and that's why we often start off pointing them out. Controlling separate sides of Spider-Man with separate sides of your brain has a great psychological effect, and it really immerses you even deeper into your character, particularly when you have to decide to use the right or left trigger based on the physical location of buildings as you swing through the city.





Your cell phone is more than just a glorified menu and map - it's also how you gauge your progress as New York's guardian arachnid....

For the occasion, I figured I'd give you guys a sneak peek at the porting process of Gunslugs; or as we like to call it, an "adaptation" process.

As I have no technical skills whatsoever, I interviewed Rutger Janssen, one of our elite programmers, and Ralph Egas, CEO and [Register or Login to view links] Mastermind. Both developers were involved with the Gunslugs adaptation.

Tj'ien Twijnstra: Rutger, could you tell us a bit about the adaptation process? How does something like that work?

Rutger Janssen: After we determined the base version, the first step is to strip the game code of all the platform specific functions; only the game code remains. Then we take it through our in-house developed tool chain so the basic language is converted from Objective C to C++. Unfortunately, tools are never perfect, so here and there I needed to manually...

With over 300 pages of script, MyCAREER on PS4 takes you on an emotional journey like you've never experienced before. Our goal was to place you IN the game. From competing on the court, to decisions you make off the court, the experience has been expanded in an immersive journey through next gen technology.





For example, early on you may not get the minutes you want as a rookie. As your team calls a timeout, you have a decision to make - remain sitting or get up and celebrate with your teammates. Each decision affects the way you are viewed both from your team's viewpoint and the way fans look at you. This is just one of many deep decisions you make, with your actions opening up hours and hours of completely new content both on and off the court.
