Diggs: Nightcrawler Brings Stylish Detective Noir to Wonderbook

104w ago - SCEE Blog Manager Fred Dutton has announced today that Nightcrawler is bringing stylish Diggs Detective Noir to Wonderbook.

Below are the details, as follows: While Book of Spells led off our Wonderbook announcement at E3 earlier this year, there are plenty more projects in the works for the forthcoming PlayStation 3 augmented reality platform, including Walking With Dinosaurs from the BBC, and an exciting partnership with Disney Interactive Studios.

Diggs: Nightcrawler is a little different, however - unlike Book of Spells and Dinosaurs, it's a brand new IP, promising quirky detective noir with style to spare.

Less than 24 hours after the game's new trailer debuted during the Sony press conference at gamescom last week, we sat down with Adam Volker from Oscar-winning animation studio turned game developer Moonbot to find out what it has in store.

"So, Diggs is a detective bookworm and he's really good at what he does," he explained.

"He works for the godfather of Library City, Humpty Dumpty. And you know his story - someone pushed him off the wall, someone bumped him off - and the cops think it's Diggs. So when you start the game he's framed for the murder of his old buddy. The story unfolds from there, with you attempting to clear Diggs' name...

Activision Hires Online Detective to Take Down Warfare 2 Pirate

250w ago - Just over a week ago it was reported that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for XBox 360 was leaked early to the Internet.

Since then, a pirate who advertised his services of Modern Warfare 2 and an XBox 360 before the street launch of the game has been busted by Activision with the help of an online detective they hired.

Apparently the whole process took less than a week for him to be located and busted, according to Rob Holmes, owner of IPCybercrime.

To quote from VentureBeat.com (linked above): "This kid was in a position to sell thousands of these," Holmes said.

Police interrogated the runner, who led them to Christian Del Amo's home. They then arrested Del Amo yesterday. Del Amo's attorney has not returned a call for comment.

The whole process, from finding the first tip to the bust, took less than a week. While the operation snagged a perpetrator, it didn't move fast enough to prevent the massive copying of the game on the torrents on the Internet.

"Hopefully it is a lesson," said Holmes. "If you try to do piracy on a large scale, you will get caught. When you use the Internet, you always leave tracks somewhere."

Sony's PSP Detective Game Negotiates June 2009 Release

279w ago - Does a game called Okage: Shadow King ring a bell? This PSP game is from the same developer, Zener Works.

First seen at Tokyo Game Show, Diamond and the Sound of a Gunshot is a visual novel where players negotiate tense situations.

See how the portraits push each other? It's more than a dramatic effect. This lets players know how close they are at pushing their negotiations.

Even though it hasn't gotten much attention, Sony Computer Entertainment Japan will release Diamond and the Sound of a Gunshot in on June 18. There's little chance that Sony will give this game a retail release, but if Patapon 2 can go digital why can't this?
