7w ago - Sony Associate Project Manager Nick Accordino shared a video today which offers a deeper look at the PS4 world of Knack on PlayStation 4.
To quote: Hello, everyone. We're coming to the final stretch before the launch of PS4, as well as Knack, a game I've been honored to be a part of. It has been great working with the very talented folks at Japan Studio, not to mention Mark Cerny, a true living legend.
Our goal with Knack was to deliver a different kind of experience for PlayStation fans at launch, outside of the realm of gritty shooters and mature action games.
Knack harkens back to the golden days of Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter, when controls were simpler, but challenges were large enough that those control schemes had to be mastered by anyone intending to finish the games. So, who better to create a game like that than one of the creative forces that brought Crash and Jak to life, Mark Cerny himself?
Knack has a lot to offer, so I'm excited to be able to share some new details on the story, and some of the cool transformations that Knack takes on during the game.
The story, of course, revolves around Knack, mankind's secret weapon against the goblin...
8w ago - Sony Social Media and Community Manager Roberto Kusabbi posted up a new video today which gives fans a deeper dive into the world of Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag on PS3.
To quote: Hello! It's been awhile. How are we all? Today I wanted to share with you a short film we put together at an Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag event we had special access to last month, including some more information on exclusive PlayStation content for the game.
I was lucky enough to enjoy a good stint of gameplay on PS4, including multiplayer, and it didn't disappoint. With the added graphical detail on PS4, the single player story mode is totally immersive, offering a huge open pirate world for you to plunder.
What I found most impressive was how the story links into actual historical events, delving deep into real pirate culture and folklore. And the online play? So. Much. Fun.
Check out the video for a closer look, and stay tuned - we'll have a few more clips coming your way in the next few weeks too, including something slightly different!
10w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton went hands-on today with Deep Down on PS4, which he states offers some ambitious dungeon crawling!
Below are the details, to quote: Tokyo Game Show was arguably a little light on big, never-before-seen new games this year.
Sure, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Driveclub, Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag, Resogun, and the like were all present, correct, and looking very shiny. But if you were after something truly fresh out of the oven, pickings were slim.
There were a handful of exceptions, of course: Yakuza Ishin from Sega (as yet unconfirmed for a Western release), the very sexy looking Soul Sacrifice Delta on PS Vita, and Deep Down - Capcom's ambitious PS4 exclusive.
Along with Yakuza, Deep Down was the game that scored the biggest queues at the show, and my very first port of call. On the face of it, it looks like something gamers will have played more than a few times before.
You step into the sabatons of an armour-clad knight as he explores a dimly-lit dungeon, crawling with hideous creatures, and armed only with a lance. So far, so Dark Souls. However, there are three aspects to the Deep Down experience that set it apart as something entirely different.
Firstly, all its dungeons are procedurally generated. As with, say,...
18w ago - Deep Silver Brand Manager Remy van Leeuwen announced that twin-stick shooter Narco Terror assaults PSN today with details below.
To quote: Hey everybody! My name is Remy from Deep Silver, and I wanted to share with you some more information on our upcoming twin-stick shooter, Narco Terror, for PlayStation Network.
Narco Terror follows the story of ex-special ops agent Rick Quinn, a one-man army that goes on a mission from the docks of Miami to the rivers of South America, to rescue his daughter.
Quinn has been working on a secret technology to stop the drug cartels' latest trafficking technique: Narco submarines. This has put him in the cross hairs of his ex-partner, Jay Delgado, who's running the subs – and the cartel that took his daughter. This drug bust just got personal.
Key inspirations for the development of Narco Terror were arcade classics such as Commando, MERCS, Ikari Warriors, and Space Invaders, and modern titles such as Assault Heroes, Renegade Ops, Geometry Wars, and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. With this approach, we've drawn inspiration from some of our favorite games of all time, while instilling modern sensibilities to create a fun mix for today's arcade gamers.
As a result, you'll see that Narco Terror consists of many different...
