93w ago - Quite some time ago we reported that Korean company LG wanted Sony's PlayStation 3 and Bravia televisions banned in the US for patent infringements relating to Blu-ray playback.
Today Reuters (linked above) reports that both Sony and LG have finally settled their bitter Blu-ray patent dispute through a cross-licensing deal.
To quote: "LG Electronics and Sony said on Thursday that they have resolved patent disputes between the two firms spanning smartphones, TVs and Blu-ray technology, with LG adding that they have signed a cross-licensing deal.
LG and Sony recently agreed to drop patent infringement lawsuits against each other," a spokeswoman at South Korea's LG Electronics said. Sony confirmed this, but declined to comment further.
Sony had filed a complaint against LG with the U.S. International Trade Commission, seeking to block LG from shipping its Rumor Touch and several other smartphones to the United States.

202w ago - Sony has struck a deal with Asian game developers to bolster the platform holder's array of PSP and PS3 titles.
Sony Computer Entertainment Asia signed the deal with six developers, such as Taiwanese groups XPEC Entertainment and Yeck Entertainment.
SCE Asia has also opened up its proprietary PlayStation platform to Taiwanese group SOGA Interactive - the team currently developing Stephen Chow's-Kung Fu Hustle, scheduled to be released this winter.
To quote: as the Taipei Times reports the manufacturer has signed a new deal with Taiwanese developers in an effort to help boost the PS3's and PSP's presence in the region. It's been down due to consumers flocking to the cheaper Wii and, consequently, causing the development manpower to follow suit.
Through this new deal with Sony Computer Entertainment Asia, six different independent developers will work on PlayStation products. The Taipei Times implies that digital content on the PS3 and PSP Go is likely to result.
