Following on from last month's rumor that Old Snake may be featuring in Sony's 'brutal offroad racer' MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, we've spotted another character in the latest MotorStorm trailer that looks like a certain devil slayer.

A short clip of what looks like Dante riding a motorbike occurs at 1 minute 5 seconds into the latest trailer and we've pulled a screen which you can see below.

Is it really him? Looks like it!

The Soul Calibur franchise has made its mark outside of arcades, due in large part to the console-specific cameo characters. It worked with Link and Spawn, and the newest iteration is gathering acclaim for the inclusion of Vader and Yoda.

With the popularity of digital downloads, however, the prospect of adding even more beloved characters is entirely possible. Here's 12 famous gaming, movie, and comic book characters that would fit the fighting franchise perfectly.

12- Marcus Fenix: Why not bring a gun to a sword fight? Our pitch--in the midst of a massive battle against the Locust, Marcus Fenix runs out of bullets and calls for the Hammer of Dawn at the same time as the tremendously incompetent Damon Baird. When the streams cross, it creates a vortex that leads to 16th Century. Without any ammo, Marcus is forced to rev up his Chainsaw Bayonet and slice up his opponents in order to find a weapon that can kill the Queen for good.

Fair warning right now, there will be general Metal Gear game spoilers in this article. If you have not finished Metal Gear Solid 4 at very least, go do so and then come back and read. The other games in the series may also have spoilers, but odds are you had that ruined or you played with the database too much already. Ok you’ve been warned.

I recently completed Metal Gear Solid 4 and what a ride it was. Great game start to finish, however there are some things I would have liked to have seen added. Calm down fanboys, I’m not knocking the game in ANY way, here are just my suggestions to give us a little more time in the Metal Gear World. Before I continue, I’ll say it again, there are going to be some spoilers in here! Read on at your own risk!

Add #1: Playable Raiden
I know it’s a little crazy, but why not let us do some Raiden chapters to see what he’s been up to before he jumps in to hack and slash some Gekko up? The Metal Gear Serie... More »

What happens when you put videogames, human imagination and the eternally democratic outlet of the internet together? Two words: fan fiction.

Name a game and there's a very good chance you'll find at least one person has bothered to contribute something to its universe in writing, be it a prologue, sequel, a random offshoot set in the same world or an unlikely romantic encounter between two of its characters.

For instance, do you remember the 2003 platformer, Tak? No? Well, at least nine different people thought enough of it to upload their own tributes to fanfiction.net, including TOONSRULE's epic 'Beginnings' ("With an evil laugh, the dark energy shot in every direction killing everything it touched, including parents of a boy"). When even the most obscure and unlikely games enjoy such tributes, how can we fail to be intrigued, amused and disturbed by the untold history behind Shadow of Colossus, the epic adventures of Joe Chief (Master Chief's even more aw... This week's edition of the regular Critical Reception column examines online reaction to Devil May Cry 4 Capcom's action franchise sequel that "delivers polished, fiendish thrills that eclipse other games in the series, and almost all contemporaries in the genre," according to reviews.

After finding success on the PlayStation 2, Capcom's Devil May Cry franchise makes its multiplatform debut on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with Devil May Cry 4. This new entry notably replaces the series' standard and well-liked protagonist Dante with a new character named Nero, who possesses an entirely different array of weaponry and abilities.

Though Dante remains playable in portions of Devil May Cry 4, series fans have wondered if Nero would be as likeable a character as Dante, and have expressed concern over the resulting shift in gameplay technique. Critics have responded well to the change thus far, and average a score of 84 out of 100 at Metacritic.com.

Oh Capcom, how we love you -- you seem to always give the community exactly what it wants when it wants it.

The game may not be coming out until early next month, but the company behind the venerable Street Fighter series doesn't want you to feel down, for they they have promised to release the demo to the next iteration in the Devil May Cry series, Devil May Cry IV, to Xbox Live and PlayStation Network services on January 31st, a week before its release in both the NA and PAL territories.

In celebration of this occasion, Capcom has also offered some ridiculously cool prizes to help market the game:

"Download the Official Devil May Cry 4 Widget and enter to win an HDTV and other cooler that hell prizes. The media widget is a live feed of the latest screenshots, videos, and cooler than hell content. It also includes a countdown to the demo and game release dates as well as buttons to join Nero or Dante's side. The widget is HTML content-bas... More »

Another year, another Showdown. The first Hero Showdown of 2008 kicks off by going to the mats with two titans of the gaming world, guys who have a history of pissing off and picking fights with gods and devils: Devil May Cry's Dante vs. God of War's Kratos.

Last time on Hero Showdown, Homer Simpson took Peter Griffith to the mattresses, and earned a first-place trophy filled with Duff in the process. Sector 7G's "best" employee scored 65.8% of the vote, leaving Quahog's lovable chicken fighter with 34.1%.

The latest installment of HS promises to deliver an ass-kicking of biblical proportions, as the half-devil, half-man-child takes on a former Spartan-turned-deity. And audience participation is encouraged, so check out the profiles below, add a comment or six, and cast your vote in the poll below. Fights don't get any easier than that.

So let's do this:

Square Enix shows new Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, plus lots more.

Bitter December cold. Check. Chance of rain. Check. Over an hour on a train packed with families on their one outing of the season. Check. Thousands of way-too-excited Japanese kids running around with their faces glued to their DS systems and their Blue Dragon cards, bumping into everyone over four feet tall along the way. Check...mate?

We really should hate attending the Jump Festa videogame and comic show. But the promise of Square Enix titles making their playable debut is way too much to pass up, so every year we take the hour-long train ride out to the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba and try our best to keep our manners and refrain from stepping on one of these little tornadoes and/or knocking out their parents for not keeping them on a leash. Ahem.

At this year's event, open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, Square Enix was once again the main attraction... More »
