7w ago - Sony Director of Emerging Platforms Chris Mahoney has posted up a video announcing that EPIX is bringing movies, concerts and comedy to PSN today.

To quote: I'm happy to announce that our newest digital entertainment partner, EPIX, will be available later today on PlayStation Network! EPIX offers a host of streaming entertainment like comedy shows, championship boxing matches, concerts, and movies.

It includes recent releases like The Avengers, The Hunger Games, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Captain America: The First Avenger and Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The team at EPIX has partnered with some of the top movie studios in the industry like Paramount, MTV Films, MGM and Lionsgate to offer over 3,000 HD movies for you to enjoy.

20w ago - Sony Senior Vice President of Business Development Phil Rosenberg has officially introduced the EPIX application for PS3 / PS Vita today, which brings movies, concerts, sports and more to both PlayStation 3 and Vita devices.

To quote: At PlayStation, we're always looking for new opportunities to give our fans the best entertainment options on our devices. Today we're proud to share that EPIX, the premium entertainment network, will bring its library of more than 3,000 new release and classic feature films, world-class concerts, comedy specials, sports, and other original programming to PS3 and PS Vita owners across the U.S. this year.

In case you're not familiar, EPIX is currently available through cable, satellite, and telco TV providers, online, and via other devices.

The application will be free to download on PSN, and EPIX subscribers will be able to instantly stream a broad range of movies and entertainment content, including many new and popular releases like Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, The Hunger Games, Thor, and much more.
