Murdered: Soul Suspect PS4 and PS3 Concept Art Explored

50°
16w ago - Square-Enix Community Manager Lee Williams explored some of the concept art today from Murdered: Soul Suspect for PS4 and PS3 platforms.

To quote: We had the pleasure of sitting down with the young and incredibly gifted Concept Artist, Yuki Matsuzawa, who was responsible for visual development on Murdered: Soul Suspect on PS4 and PS3.

Yuki already had a rich history in Concept Art even before joining the Murdered: Soul Suspect team, having joined Square Enix in 2004 to work with Isamu Kamikokuryo on Final Fantasy XIII for several years. Isamu joined us today as well to see how his protégé had applied his experience with Final Fantasy to a more western game.

In order to show you just how successful this collaboration turned out to be, we were fortunate enough to not only talk about the origins of the game, but Yuki even shared some of his original work for you to feast your eyes on.

First up is a sketch of our protagonist, Ronan O'Connor, which was drawn soon after Matsuzawa joined the Murdered team. As there were no reference materials depicting the reality of a ghost-on-ghost fight (whether they had guns or hit each other with their fists), Matsuzawa came up with several ideas about how best to show such a ghostly battle.

The image is "a proposal for having...

Video: The Ratchet & Clank Never Seen: 10 Years of Concept Art

50°
109w ago - Insomniac Games Chief Operating Officer John Fiorito has unveiled some rare concept art today spanning over the last 10 years from Ratchet & Clank for die-hard fans.

To quote: The Ratchet & Clank franchise turns 10 this year, and to celebrate their anniversary we will release the Ratchet & Clank Collection on PS3.

Ever since the first Ratchet & Clank game launched, fans have written us wanting to see concept art. While concepts are just one of many pieces we use to put our games together, they are a fun way to show the history of the Ratchet & Clank universe.

So I searched around the studio and pulled together a collection of images that go all the way back to 2002 when Insomniac started working on a new game...

In The Beginning... well actually it was 2000. We were wrapping up Spyro: Year of the Dragon and looking ahead to the PlayStation 2. After spending a year developing a new game code-named "I5" and later known as "Girl with a Stick," we canceled the project and decided to shift gears.

(To find out more about Girl with a Stick and its ultimate demise, check out the [Register or Login to view links]). That left us with only a few months to present a new idea and we started working on...

To that point, we are inviting folks to come to [Register or Login to view links] on October 8th (at 2:15 in Room 1A21) where we will officially announce the title as a Sony Online Entertainment exclusive to the PlayStation Network.

Yes, that means that I am announcing the announcement here, which I guess makes this a "pre-announcement" to you PlayStation.Blog readers!

We are in sooper-deep development at the moment (please send pizza and beer), which means that the belts are coming off and we're settling into our coding chairs for winter in order to get things all sparkly for a 2011 launch.

We're not ready to spill the beans on some of the really cool features and unique...

Jonathan Blow Shares Some Concept Art From The Witness

50°
238w ago - Jonathan Blow, game developer of the critically acclaimed game 'Braid', has shared with us through his blog that he's created a new Web site and blog for his next game called The Witness.

You can start following the blog [Register or Login to view links]. The first information he shared through his blog are some wonderful concept art pictures, but it doesn't say much yet about the game.. Don't forget to read the caption of each image!

The main Web site also contains the following poem:

"Through many births,
I have wondered on and on,
Searching for, but never finding,
The builder of this house.
To be born again and again, is suffering.

House-builder, you are seen!
You will not build a house again!
All the rafters are broken,
The ridgepole destroyed;
The mind, gone to the Unconstructed,
Has reached the end of craving!"

If anyone can make any sense of it, feel free to comment!
