1w ago - Lab Zero Games CEO Peter Bartholow announced that Skullgirls color DLC are incoming today complete with some new characters as outlined below.
To quote: Since Skullgirls was released last year, our fans have loved the flexibility our powerful 3D engine provides us when it comes to character color palettes and have been clamoring for more. So we're happy to announce that after a long wait, Skullgirls will finally be getting DLC character color packs today!
Each character color pack is $1 and contains four new color palettes. We're also offering a bundle of all 8 color packs, which can be purchased for the discounted price of $5.
So, let's take a look at the character packs - chances are some of these new color schemes will seem awfully familiar, as we created them with extensive fan feedback.
1w ago - Futurlab Programmer Robin Jubber confirmed today that Coconut Dodge Revitalised is coming soon to PlayStation Vita with details below.
To quote: If you've been noticing isn't a huge game in coding terms - it isn't even as big as the code for Velocity's menu system - but making it was fun and everybody who played the test versions enjoyed it.
In the week before release we were still cramming in extra modes and polishing gameplay - you do that when something is dear to you and you're working as part of a small team.
Without the ease of development on a fixed system, the mature Sony libraries and their technical support - not to mention somewhere to actually release the game (the Minis platform) - Coconut Dodge would never have been made and FuturLab would be yet another brief blip in the gaming landscape of failed software devs.
Or even worse James would have returned to making Flash games and I'd still be dancing naked for coins down the docks.
Coconut Dodge came out at the turn of the decade and won plaudits and even mentions in Kotaku and IGN. It opened doors which we then pushed open even further with Velocity - which was inspired by many of the mechanics in Coconut Dodge. Unusually the game was popular with both guys and girls -...
2w ago - Co-creator Richard Hogg announced today that Hohokum is coming to PlayStation 4 (PS4), PS3 and PS Vita in 2014 with details below.
To quote: It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce Hohokum as a Sony Santa Monica project, coming to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita in 2014!
Hohokum is a collaboration between artist Richard Hogg and Honeyslug, a London-based game studio. It is a whimsical colorful game with an emphasis on playful exploration and creativity. You take on the role of a curious flying snake-like character.
A technicolor, calligraphic, worm-like, kite-like being! The way you move around the world is very expressive and kinetic and kind of mesmerizing to play.
One of the main aims for Hohokum is to create something where the usual pressures of videogames - constantly being told to do things, fearing failure and being challenged to earn progress - were all absent.
This is quite a challenge, but we're really excited about how it's coming together. There are goals and secrets to discover. There are even Trophies. But at its heart Hohokum is a playground, a place to wander about, perhaps even lose yourself in.
It is kind of awesome to be able to finally say that. We have been working away on the game for the last year, maintaining...
2w ago - HumaNature Studios Founder Greg Johnson announced today that Doki-Doki Universe is coming to PS4, PS3 and PS Vita!
Below are the details, to quote: My name is Greg Johnson, and I've been making games longer than I'd like to admit (ever heard of Toejam and Earl? If you've heard of my first game, Starflight, you're older than you probably want to admit).
We at HumaNature (that's Human Nature... not Huma Nature by the way) are a pretty small group, as far as game development groups go these days.
Our (admittedly lofty) goal is to create new and original game experiences that reach out to people looking for more humanity in games. We love interactive stories, emotional expression, and self-discovery - we're not so big on shooting things.
Here at HNS we are hard at work building a game for PlayStation, who, thankfully, seems to like a lot of the same lofty things we do. Our game is called Doki-Doki Universe. It's tough to describe Doki-Doki, because it's actually a set of related products that will be released at the same time.
Players' first exposure to Doki-Doki will be in the form of a free download for their PS Vita, PS3 or PS4. This is a light version of the game where players can fly around a Universe and take fun personality quizzes.
