89w ago - Today Kotaku (linked above) reports that Sony is rumored to debut the PlayStation 4 (PS4) next-generation console in 2013 which is currently assumed to be codenamed as Orbis.
While PS4.SCEDev.net does not currently work, the URL Orbis.SCEDev.net currently resolves to Sony's developer network Web site.
To quote: "While the official reveal of Sony's next home console could still be months away, if not longer, Kotaku has today learned some important details concerning the PlayStation 3's successor.
For one, the console's name- or at least its codename/working title- is apparently Orbis. And it's being planned for release in time for the 2013 holiday season.
The details in this story come from a reliable source who is not authorized to talk publicly about next-gen hardware but has shared correct information with us before. What they're telling us in specifics matches much of what we've heard and reported in generalities in recent weeks.
A Sony spokesperson declined to comment about these details, citing the company's policy not to comment on "rumors or speculation."
WHAT'S IN A NAME
Orbis. Say it out loud. Sounds a little like the word "four", doesn't it? Only it doesn't make the next PlayStation sound like a bad horror movie sequel.
154w ago - As promised here is another video of Rebug in action with major breakthroughs, our ongoing project to turn a Retail PS3 console into a full Debug / TEST unit.
As I was uploading this video Cyberskunk had another major breakthrough so I will have a video of that up shortly if I'm not too drunk
We were already able to get the decrypted dev_flash from newer firmware and that's how Cyberskunk got Quick Signup working.
Then GeoHotcomes out with a much easier way... but that keeps an exploit in our pocket for later use. I see some of you are already asking about re-enabling the usb exploit in 3.42+ firmwares, we have already thought of that but currently won't be working on that until Rebug is finished.
157w ago - Today we have for you a video that shows off the work of Cyberskunk in a PS3 Retail to Debug WIP Project dubbed Codename: Rebug!
He has been working on turning a retail console into a debug console through the use of firmware loader. The reason we are sharing this now is to show that it is nearly complete.
Most of this work has been done for quite some time just not shared with the public, but seeing its nearly complete you will get a preview of things to come. Once we have our full debug dumps you can expect 100% debug features on a retail console (currently we only have partial dumps).
I have left a few things out in the video that I will take screenshots of like *check although we have it enabled its grayed out, also auto download is now gone just like a TEST unit.
We will keep you posted as we make more progress in the coming days. Please do not ask when we will release this because we ourselves don't know when it will be finished.
