97w ago - Activision Social Media Manager Dan Amrich has confirmed today that the first MW3 Maps will be hitting PS3 Call of Duty Elite Premium Members on February 28, 2012 with details outlined below.
To quote: It's going to be a long year - and that's a good thing. While Modern Warfare 3 has occupied a lot of time in the drives of a lot of PS3 owners since its November release, there is more content to come over the next several months.
And if you're a premium member of Call of Duty Elite, you're going to get your first two tastes of that content on February 28th.
While the content season will contain more than 20 items overall - some multiplayer maps, some game modes, and some Spec Ops missions - the first two pieces of content in the season are a Call of Duty player's bread and butter: multiplayer maps.
The seaside village of Piazza is a perfect battleground for fans of close-quarters combat; the sharp corners, tight corridors, and stone staircases all offer compelling examples of why the word "paranoia" is the same in English and Italian.
Liberation offers more room to run, but it's no less deadly. Enjoy the beautiful foliage, romantic footbridges, and brutal explosions as you attack the enemy centrally located park in Manhattan. Snipers will find their perches,...
155w ago - Over the weekend Major Nelson (linked above) announced news of Call of Duty: Black Ops First Strike XBox 360 and PS3 DLC coming, however, based on the screenshots many sites are reporting that Treyarch may actually be selling cancelled maps bearing the same name as those just announced.
"Dan Bunting, from Treyarch Studios, joined Major Nelson's show for a quick interview to announce the brand new DLC set to release for Black Ops. It was mentioned that it had been previously arranged that the DLC would be exclusive for the 360 for a period of time.
The release date was also announced to be February 1. The DLC is titled First Strike and includes 4 new multiplayer maps and 1 new zombie map. The price will be 1200 MSP ($15).

303w ago - This year's Games Developer Conference is definitely turning out to be a goldmine of information, and this update regarding the upcoming map packs for Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (PC, Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PS3) is no exception.
Good news is that the developers are finally letting loose a few morsels of knowledge about them - bad news is that they're still not being specific about the entire thing.
So, what did the guys from Infinity Ward - more specifically, community manager Robert Bowling - reveal about the map packs? Well, it seems that pretty much anyone who likes Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare will like the new maps. Bowling's statement, verbatim:
People who want open maps are going to be happy with this map pack. People who want more indoor locales are going to be happy with this map pack. People who want something completely different from what they're currently playing are going to be happy with this map pack.
Yep, that pretty much covers everyone. Besides that, though, he confirmed that the first maps will be available in a pack of three maps each. No word if they're going to be free or if there's a nominal fee one has to pay to access them yet though.
