pacotesan has uploaded a video to Youtube which shows that the Wiikey firmware update leak works fine with clones. So all that talk of clones not being compatible with potential firmware updates seems like a false claim.

He writes: The clones and EVEN THE DUMPED one that you can flash to an ATMEL chip, updates fine with the leaked 1.9B update from the wiikey team... so, future updates should also work fine. :D

Update: The financial terms of Intel's buyout of Havok were not initially disclosed. However, Reuters reports that Irish venture capital firm TVC Holdings estimated the deal's value at around $110 million. On Monday, TVC agreed to sell its 27 percent stake in Havok for about $21 million.

Over the weekend, Silicon Valley giant Intel announced its latest acquisition. The deal, however, wasn't for a new chip-making unit or the rumored purchase of graphics-card maker card Nvidia. Instead, Intel bought Havok, the Irish developer of the widely used physics engine of the same name.

"Havok is a proven leader in physics technology for gaming and digital content, and will become a key element of Intel's visual computing and graphics efforts," said Renee James, an Intel vice president and general manager of its Software and Solutions Group, in a statement. James said that the tech giant would allow the middleware maker to conduct "business as usual" via a... More »

According to the Associated Press, Japanese business daily Nikkei said Saturday that Sony was planning to shed costly semiconductor assets in a deal that could be worth about 100 billion yen ($870 million). Nikkei reported that an agreement could be reached in the next few months, allowing Sony to focus on audiovisual equipment instead.

Sony was said to be considering establishing a joint venture with Toshiba following any sale in order to ensure that there was a ready supply of chips for its gaming devices, specifically the PlayStation 3’s Cell processor, which Sony developed in conjunction with Toshiba and IBM. Sony Computer Entertainment could even secure a minority stake in any venture, it was reported.
