Video: Check Out Share Play PS4 in Action on PlayStation 4

1h ago - PlayStation Public Relations guru Andrew Kelly invites fans to check out Share Play PS4 in action today on PlayStation 4 in a video below.

To quote: The PS4 system software update v2.00, codenamed Masamune, will be available to download on Tuesday, October 28th.

One of the features included in the update that I'm most excited about is Share Play, and we put together a quick video to show you how this innovative feature works. Check it out!

As we've said before, the best way to think about Share Play is like a "virtual couch." PlayStation 4 will create an online local co-op experience by allowing you to invite a friend to join your game for up to one hour at a time - even when they don't own a copy of it. Share Play has three main functions:

• Share Screen - Share your screen with a friend, allowing them to spectate. This is ideal for PS4 owners that want to watch their friends play a game and provide helpful tips. PlayStation Plus is not required to use this.

• Hand over my controller - Pass your controller to a friend, virtually, and watch them play. Your friend...

46w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton shared the Gran Turismo 6 opening PS3 movie and TV commercial video footage with GT6 fans below today.

To quote: Hey there, race fans. As many of you know, it's a huge week for GT. Gran Turismo 6 storms onto PS3 tomorrow, and to mark the occasion we held a grand launch event in Ronda, Spain.

Polyphony Digital president Kazunori Yamauchi was present to make a number of announcements, including the arrival of three new Red Bull cars in GT6: the Red Bull X2014 Fan car (X2014/F), the Red Bull X2014 Standard car (X2014/S) and the Red Bull X2014 Junior car (X2014/J).

These three cars were designed by Polyphony Digital Inc. in collaboration with Adrian Newey, Chief Technical Officer of four-time F1 champions Red Bull Racing.

Also present was a camouflaged version of the yet-to-be-launched BMW M4 Coupé. The stunning new car - shown publicly only as a concept until now - will go on sale in 2014. In collaboration with BMW, Polyphony Digital enjoyed unprecedented access to the car during its development, and it will be made available through a free update shortly after the release of GT6, allowing gamers around the world to drive it before it arrives in BMW showrooms.

Not only that, but the city of Ronda also honoured Yamauchi-san by...

169w ago - This weekend PS3 developer tical has released a change_cinavia_files.tcl Cinavia patch for PS3 MFW Builder which disables the Cinavia DRM check for PlayStation 3 Modified Firmware users.

To quote: I have traced the Cinavia DRM checks to 4 separate sprx files and after a long time trying to patch these files I have found that 3 of those files are present in the DEBUG (DEX) firmware don't have the Cinavia DRM checks enabled. Files are videoplayer_util sprx, videoplayer_plugin sprx and videoeditor_plugin sprx.

I have successfully copied these 3 sprx files from DEBUG (DEX) FW 341 over to my retail PS3 unit running OFW 341 using dev_blind and Cinavia seems to be now disabled. I've confirmed this by playing back a number of Cinavia affected video files.

This means that Cinavia is now disabled for all DLNA playback...

PS3 Firmware Check Remover: PS3NoUpdate v3.0 and Installer

1300°
237w ago - Update: As over 60 users are reporting below, it appears Sony has finally added a version check blocking PS3 Proxy methods for PSN. Additionally, 8002A212 is an error returned by the PSN servers during authentication (invalid version) and 8002A227 means your console is banned (OpenPSID = blacklisted).

A few weeks back we posted several methods to Bypass PS3 Firmware 3.21 and Connect to PSN, and today dc740 has updated his PS3 Firmware check remover dubbed PS3NoUpdate to version 3.0 with a guide while jabberosx has coded up an installer and FAQ for the tool.

Download: PS3NoUpdate v3.0 With SRC / PS3NoUpdate Installer

To quote: I wrote a simple program that uses the known DNS method to bypass the firmware check... but with one difference... you only have to configure...

Sanity Check: Five Reasons Why Windows Vista Failed

200°
316w ago - On Friday, Microsoft gave computer makers a six-month extension for offering Windows XP on newly-shipped PCs. While this doesn't impact enterprise IT – because volume licensing agreements will allow IT to keep installing Windows XP for many years to come – the move is another symbolic nail in Vista's coffin.

The public reputation of Windows Vista is in shambles, as Microsoft itself tacitly acknowledged in its Mojave ad campaign.

IT departments are largely ignoring Vista. In June (18 months after Vista's launch), Forrester Research reported that just 8.8% of enterprise PCs worldwide were running Vista. Meanwhile, Microsoft appears to have put Windows 7 on an accelerated schedule that could see it released in 2010. That will provide IT departments with all the justification they need to simply skip Vista and wait to eventually standardize on Windows 7 as the next OS for business.

So how did Vista get left holding the bag? Let's look at the five most important reasons why Vista failed.

5. Apple successfully demonized Vista

Apple's clever I'm a Mac ads have successfully driven home the perception that Windows Vista is buggy, boring, and difficult to use. After...
