Daily Challenges Now Available in Spelunky on PS3 and PS Vita

50°
21w ago - Mossmouth's Derek Yu announced today that daily challenges are now available in Spelunky on PS3 and PS Vita platforms.

Below are the details, to quote: Hey, everyone! It's Derek once again. First off, thank you for your tremendous support of Spelunky on PS3 and PS Vita.

You've made it clear that it was the right choice bringing the game to PlayStation! We're really happy about how the game has been received (generally with much glee, followed by screams of anguish, followed by more glee).

But I'm really here to talk about our first update, which is out now. Of course, every game launches with some number of bugs, and Blitworks has been working hard to fix as many of those as possible. The slowdown in certain areas of the game was probably the biggest issue, and that's been addressed. They also fixed a bug that was preventing certain Trophies from being earned.

Also, if you've been watching streams of people playing Spelunky on PC, you may have noticed that that version of the game has a unique feature called the Daily Challenge, where each day a set of levels is generated that has the same seed for everyone playing it. If you get a high score on the Daily Challenge, you can really attribute it to your skill and knowledge of the game, rather than the luck of the draw (i.e....

Tearaway's Papery Challenges and PS Vita Character Customization

50°
26w ago - Sony Community Manager James Spafford outlined some of Tearaway's papery challenges and PS Vita character customization for fans below today.

To quote: Even though Tearaway is a single-player game - a personal journey shared by you, and your little messenger friend, iota or atoi - we couldn't resist giving Tearaway players the chance to express themselves creatively.

We've already talked at length about the oodles of papercraft models you can collect as you play through the game, but there are also in-game challenges that will allow you to personalize the world as you travel through it.

A squirrel who needs a new crown, a chap whose moustache has been stolen by crows, and a pig that's too ugly... these are all examples of problems you'll be asked to solve through the cutting out of virtual paper shapes.

When the time comes to get crafty, you'll be presented with a virtual cutting mat, and a selection of colored paper sheets. Using the pencil tool, you can trace a shape that you want to cut out using the front touch. If you make a mistake, you can erase your flawed pencil lines with the eraser tool, but once you're happy with the shape, hit the scissors icon to cut it out.

You can layer multiple sheets on top of one another, just like using real paper, and once...

Urban Trial Freestyle PS3: Customization and Challenges Detailed

50°
61w ago - Tate Interactive GM Wojtek Bilinski has outlined Urban Trial Freestyle PS3 and PS Vita customization and challenge details today.

To quote: One of the really cool features in Urban Trial Freestyle for PS Vita and PS3 is the ability to customize your motorbike - but it's more than just picking out shiny new parts.

Bike customization is a key factor that directly affects your performance in both the Stunt and Time Attack Modes. Bike Customization allows you to adjust your bike to best meet the conditions on each of the available tracks.

Urban Trial Freestyle provides you with three main bike components to customize your vehicle - engine, chassis and wheels - customizing these parts influences three main parameters: speed, acceleration and handling.

As you advance and unlock more parts, you will ultimately have four engines, four pairs of wheels and four chassis to choose from, giving you altogether a possible of 64 combinations.

If you maximize the speed parameter, you will compromise balance (along with more rigid chassis), so you will perform better in Stunts like Highest or Longest Jump but worse in Flip Meter. When you want to beat a particular Stunt record, the choice is pretty simple and you would focus on one or two factors.

For Highest...

Mass Effect 3: N7 Weekly Challenges Come to PSN This Weekend

50°
103w ago - Today Bioware Community Manager Eduardo Vasconcellos has announced that Mass Effect 3: N7 weekly challenges are coming to PSN this weekend!

To quote: Priority transmission to alliance soldiers of the playstation network: reinforcements are coming...

From: Admiral Steven Hackett, Citadel Allied Command
Re: Operation EXORCIST
Confidentiality Classification: XA-PRIME
Distribution: N7 Forces Only

Soldiers of the Milky Way - By now it is no secret that the Reaper War has had its share of logistical SNAFUs. It is to the galaxy's credit that, when we put out the call for volunteers, we were answered by individuals of every species from Citadel, Traverse, Terminus space, and most significantly for this operation, the PlayStation Network.

Unfortunately, the diversity of equipment sources meant our allies ran into hardware and software incompatibilities.

These brave men and women have been fighting beside you and, in doing so, have gone above and beyond normal duty. Because their units were not properly tracked, they fought without pay and sometimes without proper training, equipment, even rations. It is a mark of their character that these warriors of the PlayStation Network took the grave task set before us and stuck it out through sheer determination.
