142w ago - Today Emil Ayoubkhan at The Behemoth has just announced that Castle Crashers will arrive momentarily on PSN.
To quote: Happy release day everyone. Today we can finally say that Castle Crashers for the PlayStation Network is here! Well technically it comes out in the next hour or so, but that's good enough.
Today you have the opportunity to join a community of over 1.8 million strong. Even more importantly you are the first to get your hands on the brand new Volleyball and Team Arena modes.
Working with the entire SCEA staff in getting this game out has been a wonderful experience for us all, and we are very fortunate to have been able to bring this title to the PlayStation Network.
Of course we wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for the continuous support from all of our fans. We meet all of you at various shows, talk to you through emails, forums, comments, and the one thing that always remains the same is you are all very awesome.
Tomorrow we are on a plane to Seattle to attend the Penny Arcade Expo (PAX). This will be our largest booth at PAX ever and we're bringing everything we possibly can to make the experience great.

144w ago - The Behemoth's Co-Founder and Art Director Dan Paladin has revealed that Castle Crashers is finally coming to PSN on August 31, 2010.
To quote: After many months of certification, we've finally secured an actual day for the USA, Canada, and Mexico release of Castle Crashers on the PlayStation Network. This gift is Tuesday, August 31st!
We've been working on Castle Crashers for the PSN for about a year and a half. In that time I've had the fortune of meeting everyone at tradeshows and lots of people will ask me, "C'mon, what is taking so long?"
I have to say that we've felt the same way -- our whole team's goal is to make you all happy so we want to share it right now!! We're super antsy. But like all of our games, we can never rush anything as it's necessary to make sure that every little piece is airtight. And fun!
We've teamed up with some other sites to give you a full list of contests for a chance to win free stuff. Be on the lookout for these dates as we inch closer to the release. Perhaps something wonderful will be obtained?
Also, we're going to be at PAX from September 3rd to the 5th (booth...
158w ago - Today Kelly Revak of The Behemoth has shared video footage revealing some of the new features which are included in the latest Castle Crashers PSN update.
To quote: First of all, we are happy to report that we have finished our internal testing, and have sent the title off to a third-party agent for some final testing before we submit it to the PlayStation Store.
While we still don't want to guess at a release date, we are definitely in the final stages of this adventure. Meanwhile, we wanted to tell you about another neat new feature.
We have always had more ideas for Castle Crashers than we've had time to implement. So since we've had to rewrite the code for the game anyway as we bring it to PS3, we've been able to add some features that have been lingering in the backs of our minds since this whole thing started. Here is an example:
Player Arena matches will now allow you to choose teams! You can play 2-on-2 or take on the world with 1-v-3. Of course, you can still do free-for-all as well. Sharing a sweet, sweet victory with your friend is like eating a delicious cake in front of your other friends while they cry.
169w ago - Today Emil Ayoubkhan of The Behemoth has shared a progress report on Castle Crashers for PlayStation Network, as follows:
I'm here today to talk about our new volleyball minigame that we will be including in our upcoming version of Castle Crashers, but before I get into that, let's talk about the release date.
This is pretty straightforward actually as we don't have one yet. We're looking to finish sometime this year and as soon as we can narrow it down to a specific month, we will be able to talk about this more.
Now back to the to volleyball minigame. Here are some of the finer points:
• Play co-op or vs your buddies
• Local or online play
• From 1-4 players per team for up to 8 player matches
• Variable stats based on character
• Use magic attacks to place 8 new magic status effects on the volleyball
• Cool new serving and spiking moves
• Available AI teammates or opponents
• Play as any character you have unlocked
• Play 1, 3 or 5 matches against your opponents
• Leaderboards to track the best in the land
It's basically like playing volleyball with your friends but you get to replace good sportsmanship with explosions, magic, and...
195w ago - It appears The Behemoth's 2D action game Castle Crashers is no longer exclusive to Xbox 360.
According to CastleCrashers.com (linked above), the highly popular Xbox Live Arcade game will be hitting the PlayStation 3 via PSN in 2010.
This news comes despite earlier reports of it arriving on 8/27/2009 (which is obviously false), so now the title will not be conquering the PlayStation Store this year.
For those unaware: Castle Crashers is a side-scrolling, beat-em-up which incorporates a small number of role-playing game elements.
After selecting a character, the player then selects a starting level (beginning with the wizard's attack on the castle) through a graph-like world map; once the player completes a level, they may then opt to start or revisit that level any time.
Other levels include shops where the player can buy items for healing, attacking, or defense using coins gained from defeated foes, and arena levels where the player can take on challenges to unlock additional characters, although in co-op the arena turns into a player vs player match.
