Nintendo has hired anti-piracy guru Neil Boyd from Warner Bros. in a move to keep the Nintendo DS R4 Card from being sold at both online and offline retailers.
Boyd claims Nintendo has no problem in hurting companies who still sell flash carts for the DS console, to quote:

Today Opium of GBATemp (linked above) has reported that the new Acekard 2i update is available which includes a Nintendo DSi Firmware 1.4 fix for the previous flash cart block.
Following last week's video from the R4i Team comes another, this time from the EZvi Team, demonstrating the Nintendo DSi being cracked with a simple system update.
Today YouTube user GBAtempDotNet has posted a video (which appears to have surfaced from Chinese site Youku.com) demonstrating the R4i on Nintendo DSi version 1.4 Firmware.
It seems the recent Nintendo DSi System Update that was reported to block flash carts has already been cracked... with a DSi flash cart successfully working on the new firmware!

Update: According to TinyCartridge.com, the new DSi Firmware v1.4 has reportedly blocked all flash carts but adds Facebook functionality. Some flash carts are updatable for the DSi, but as of yet there is apparently no work-around.
Today German site PlanetDS.de (linked above) is reporting that Nintendo's DSi handheld has received its first System Update.
In addition to the recent new protection being implemented on Nintendo DS games, now both eBay and Amazon have officially banned the sales of DS R4 flash carts.
As expected, Nintendo is pleased about this and has issued a brief comment as follows:
