Capcom Confirms Ultra Street Fighter IV is Out Today on PS3

50°
29w ago - Capcom Europe Community Manager David Hinds confirmed that Ultra Street Fighter IV is officially out today on PS3!

To quote: Hi everyone, my name's David Hinds, and I'm the fighting game community manager here at Capcom Europe. I'm pleased to confirm that the digital upgrade for Ultra Street Fighter IV is available to download from PlayStation Store today.

This is certainly the most definitive Street Fighter IV game you'll ever need to own, as we've added in extra features. Here's a rundown of what's new.

Firstly, we've added five new characters to the game, all with very different play styles and move sets:

• Elena (previously from Street Fighter III), who only uses her feet to attack using the dancing fighting style of Capoeira to create a tricky high/low mix-up game.

• Rolento, who made his first appearance as a boss character in Final • Fight, has great mobility options, and uses multi-hitting specials that utilize his long range fighting stick.

• Hugo, also from Final Fight but more famously from Street Fighter III, is a gigantic grappler who takes the top spot of being the largest character in the game - he's slow but powerful!

• Poison (also of Final Fight fame), with her deadly projectiles and whip attacks make her one of the...

Capcom on Balancing Ultra Street Fighter IV on PlayStation 3

50°
30w ago - Capcom Senior Online Community Specialist Peter Rosas shared details today on balancing Ultra Street Fighter IV on PlayStation 3 below.

To quote: What's up guys? Peter Rosas here; some of you may better know me as "ComboFiend." I'm the Fighting Game Community Specialist here at Capcom USA and have acted as the Associate Director of Battle Design on Ultra Street Fighter IV (USFIV).

First and foremost, let me say it's definitely an honor for me to be on the official PlayStation Blog to talk to you guys about how the character specific battle balance changes for USFIV were decided upon and what you can expect to see in USFIV.

For those who may not be aware, the entire reason USFIV was made was due to ever-mounting requests from fans. They let us know that although a lot of characters had a possibility of winning in Super Street Fighter IV AE ver.2012, the gap between the highest and lowest ranked characters was a tad noticeable.

Additionally, the characters that were regarded in the dreaded "bottom five" category had an almost zero chance of ever winning a high level tournament. Since it was the fans who requested the game to be balanced further, we figured "who better would know what Ryu or Ken needs to win than those who are grinding with them every day online?" And with...

Capcom: Dustforce Launches Today on PS3 and PlayStation Vita

50°
46w ago - Capcom Producer Rey Jimenez announced that Dustforce launches today on both PS3 and PlayStation Vita platforms with details below.

To quote: In any other context outside of games, "S" rank being the pinnacle of grades wouldn't make sense. But since we're talking games here, we all know that the "S" rank is where it's at.

I have a theory that it originated in Japanese games (where many of the great gaming traditions started) and their disregard for A being the first letter of the alphabet. Whether or not that's true, the tradition of Capcom platforming lives on in Dustforce, which launches today on PS3 and PS Vita.

Originally made by Hitbox Team and released for PC, Dustforce caught our eye because it shares a few elements of the best platformers we've made: challenge, design, and soundtrack.

Dustforce seems very simple at first glance, and it really is. The idea is to move your acrobatic janitor through the level as fast as you can, while cleaning all the dirt, dust, and grime. You're given a few abilities to do this: double jumps, wall runs, dashes, etc.

There are also some tricks that you need to learn, like down dashing onto a slope for max speed, or learning to dash as soon as you land to maintain dash speed. Using these tools, it's up to you to find the...
