Per John Diamonon (Capcom) via PS Blog:

I’m glad to be back here with the PlayStation Posse and talk about a game that I’m looking forward to – Age of Booty. No, it’s not an online dating game.

It’s a casual, pirate-themed, online strategy game from some of the makers of Halo.

Actually, I consider this more of a multiplayer party game because it’s really easy to play and allows for a lot of smack talk. Yarrr!

Here are more details:

• Release date: Soon (I’ll confirm when I get a solid date)
• Price: Only $9.99!
• Trophies: No comment at this time.
• Add on content: Lots of free map packs in the future plus some cool expansions.
• Players: Up to 8 players online – You can play a 4 player local match then take the team online!
• Demo:Available a couple weeks after launch with online multiplayer matches!

For the very first time, Microsoft did a presentation at one of the biggest video game events in the world, which is the Tokyo Game Show.

Since the announcement of Microsoft appearing at the Tokyo Game Show, people were skeptical as to what they had to offer in this year’s event. There is news that is surprising to most of us and some are well expected.

Let’s take a look to the major announcements of Microsoft that might change the sales in Japan:

1. Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope
It’s been confirmed once again that this is an XBOX 360 exclusive and it will be released in Japan on Feb 2009 while the US will have to wait a month later, March 3, 2009

2. Tekken 6
This might be a shocker to all Playstation 3 fans out there but Tekken 6 is one of the Sony’s biggest known exclusives but it seems Namco Bandai has decided to spread the Tekken 6 love to the XBOX 360.

3. Ninety-Nine Nights 2 ... More »

Microsoft has revealed a batch of new software titles for the XBox 360 during its keynote session at the Tokyo Game Show today, naming the Halo project recently revealed by Bungie.

Halo 3 Recon is dated for autumn 2009, and sees the return of Microsoft's number one franchise to the XBox 360 system with new single and multiplayer content.

The latest big name franchise to make the leap to Microsoft's console is Tekken 6 from Namco Bandai, also due next autumn.

Tekken follows Final Fantasy as a franchise previously associated with Sony's PlayStation brand and highlights the recent trend for Japanese developers to go multiformat with releases.

A sequel to the Q Entertainment title Ninety Nine Nights is also due for the system, along with a handful of new XBox Live titles including Metal Slug 7 and King of Fighters 98 Ultimate Match from SNK Playmore.

In an unfortunate cross-cultural coincidence, Halo developer Bungie has inadvertently drawn parallels to an infamous child abduction case to promote its new Halo 3 expansion pack.

In a new teaser trailer, which depicts a war-torn city landscape, various messages flash up on the screen, including one that asks "Maddie, where are you?"

For many people, particularly living in Britain, this seemingly innocuous phrase will bring back memories of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, a three-year old British girl who was allegedly abducted from a Portuguese resort while on holiday with her parents.

At the time of the abduction, the slogan "Find Maddie" and "Where's Maddie?" featured prominently in British newspapers and international publicity campaigns around the world.

Bungie has denied any intent to create publicity by exploiting the McCann disappearance, with a representative claiming "This is both an unfortunate and uninten... More »

This is what happens when gamers fuse their favorite games together. While I can’t particularly see Halo 3, and LittleBigPlanet fusing together well, one creator has gone through with it, and created his very own Halo 3: Finish the Fight level.

In the video below, Sackboy is wearing a green costume to imitate Master Chief, and as your playing the level, the Bungie song kicks giving it the extra effect.

The Warthog vehicles I have to admit are pretty nifty, and while you won’t be necessarily kicking alien ass, this is definitely one of the better levels in the beta so far. Be sure to finish the fight if you have access to the beta, or watch the video.

Video can be viewed below courtesy of GameTrailers.. Enjoy!

So, has anybody else noticed this?

The comparison between the two generations begins with the PS2/Xbox generation. During that time, there were a variety of reasons to own both systems - there are always reasons to own a successful video game platform - and for most avid gamers, those reasons were obvious.

The Xbox was the more powerful console and its relatively familiar hardware was similar to PC, which paved the way for many great FPSs. And we're not only talking about exclusives like Halo; we're also talking about most all multiplatform FPSs, which were typically best played on the Xbox.

In general, multiplatform games really were slightly better on Microsoft's machine, simply due to the ease of development and the added power the PS2 didn't offer.

At the same time, the PS2 was following closely in the footsteps of the original PlayStation and attempting to steal the original console's crown of "King of the RPGs." If you were an... More »

It wouldn't be accurate to say that the sky is falling for Microsoft's one and only gaming console, the 360, but it may be time to look at what the company is doing right... and where it's going wrong.

The Sony PlayStation 3 is beginning to chip away at the 360's lead in both software and hardware sales in the US, and that system only seems to be picking up steam. In contrast, the 360 doesn't seem to have much real momentum these days.

While it's hard to find ways for Microsoft to get its mojo back, we can easily identify a few problem areas that are becoming clear as the 360 ages. These are the weaknesses in Microsoft's strategy that have to be addressed before the system can hope to get its groove back. Let's take a look.

You have to find your voice
When the PS3 launched, the 360 was the system with more, better games, and the better online strategy. Microsoft also did a wonderful job in poaching some of gaming's largest franc... More »
