Video: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands is Built for PSP

50°
240w ago - Today Producer Joel Vignola has shared a video reveal that testifies Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands, which arrives on May 18, 2010, is built specifically for Sony's PSP handheld console.

To quote: Let me start off by explaining a few points we at [Register or Login to view links] Quebec City are exceptionally proud of. To begin with, Forgotten Sands is not a game based on the upcoming Sands of Time movie; we created our own storyline for the game.

Second of all, this IS a unique game built from the ground up specifically for the PSP, this is not a port from any other system. The adventure is all new, the location is new, and the Prince's powers are all new as well. The only way to experience this adventure is on the PSP.

Some of the new powers include the ability to speed up and slow down objects within the game; being able to solidify sand lets the prince create new paths, while speeding up traps can be used against enemies. You can give yourself some breathing room by slowing down traps or enemies, or increase the challenge by playing everything at full speed.

We're really interested to see what you guys have to say after playing the game and can't wait to answer your questions, even if they're...

315w ago - Level-5's PlayStation 3 exclusive RPG White Knight Chronicles will feature its own built-in social network service called "GeoNet."

The service includes friend lists, a journal with comment functionality, messaging, and also will keep track of who's reading your content to help determine journal popularity.

To quote: In addition to online play, White Knight Chronicles will include a built-in social network service.

Announced today at a pre-launch event in Tokyo, the built-in SNS is formally known as "GeoNet." This area of the game has all the features you'd expect of an SNS, including friend lists, a journal with comment functionality, and messaging. The service also keeps track of who's reading your content, so you can see if your journal is popular.

This is just one feature of what should be a feature-rich RPG. Developer Level-5 is even giving the game content off the Blu-ray disc! Today, the White Knight site was updated with a web comic, White Knight Chronicles: Episode 0 Dogma Wars (this is an English translation of the Japanese name, Shirokishi Monogatari: Epsiode 0 Dogma Senki).

This comic tells the story of a battle that took place 10,000 years prior to the game. You can see the Japanese version for yourself at the White Knight official site...

New Nintendo DS to Feature Built-In Camera and Music Playback

50°
325w ago - According to a report from Japan's Nikkei business daily via Reuters, Nintendo is planning to launch an updated Nintendo DS model by the end of 2008. Among other options, the new model is expected to feature a built-in camera along with support for the playback of music files.

To quote: Japanese video game maker Nintendo Co Ltd plans to launch a new model of its DS handheld machine that can take pictures and play music by the end of the year, the Nikkei business daily said on Sunday.

The move would pit the top-selling portable game gear with Apple Inc iPod and camera-embedded cellphones in general.

The price for the new machine, which will also be equipped with advanced wireless communications functions, is expected to be below 20,000 yen ($189) in Japan, compared with 16,800 yen for the current model, the Nikkei said.

The Wii game console and DS have been Nintendo's twin growth engines, helping its share price to grow more than three-fold over the past three years.

The DS far outsells Sony Corp's rival machine, PlayStation Portable (PSP), globally.

But in Japan, the PSP's unit sales exceeded the DS's in five consecutive months through July, according to game magazine publisher Enterbrain, in a potential sign of slowing momentum for the current DS model.
