Video: Rogue Legacy on PlayStation: Building a Roguelike RPG

50°
23w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements made available a video today showcasing Rogue Legacy on PlayStation which focuses on building the Roguelike RPG below!

To quote: A dread memory hangs above your head. A haunted castle stands in your way. And your family has struggled for generations in the name of redemption and fortune.

In Rogue Legacy, players embark on a harrowing quest in a retro-style Roguelike, filled with brutal challenges and hundreds of upgrades. Rogue Legacy is coming to PS3, PS4, and PS Vita, with all the dark humor and alluring secrets that made it an indie hit on PC.

We spoke with Cellar Door Games Co-founder and Game Designer Teddy Lee about how the team built this addictive RPG, and why they approached the Roguelike in a new way. See below for the full interview, and Teddy's insight into the design process.

Kenny Lee, Teddy's brother and Cellar Door co-founder, also notes:

We hope you're as excited about the release of Rogue Legacy on PlayStation as we are. Releasing a game on consoles has always been a milestone and a bit of a dream for us, and we never would have taken that step forward without your support and enthusiasm.

It means a lot...

Video: Arkham Knight: Building the Ultimate Batmobile on PS4

25w ago - Rocksteady Studios Game Director Sefton Hill posted up a video today showcasing Arkham Knight on building the ultimate Batmobile for PS4.

To quote: I've always said that working on a Batman game is a huge privilege for us. Even though we have been working on Batman for over seven years, we've never lost sight of the fact that we are the current custodians of a very special universe.

So it was with great excitement, and not a small amount of trepidation, that we decided to add the fully playable Batmobile into the Arkhamverse, knowing that it would disrupt all of our existing systems and bring with it a huge amount of pressure to deliver on expectations.

I guess this is what excited me most about integrating this very special vehicle. Taking on challenges which don't have an easy answer is where the best innovations come, because you are forced to do the unexpected.

As it was with taking on a character that cannot kill and is powerful but vulnerable, so it is with taking on a car that is (in most right-minded people's heads) the single greatest vehicle ever.

Integrating the Batmobile married up with our design philosophy at Rocksteady:...

Beenox: The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Building a Better Playground

50°
33w ago - Beenox Executive Producer Stephane Gravel detailed how to build a better playground in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for both PS4 and PS3 platforms today!

To quote: Spider-Man is pretty incredible among super heroes. Rather than hide away from the world when confronted with the death of a loved one, he uses that very personal loss as motivation to invest even greater in society.

Spider-Man can tango with street thugs, mutant hybrids, and mechanical monstrosities, but he's not above your everyday cat-in-tree rescue.

He doesn't have a secret lair or concealed base of operations; he's just a guy in bright blue and red tights doing mid-air somersaults down Fifth Avenue. He wants to be seen. He enjoys this.

We had a few core goals for The Amazing Spider-Man 2: invigorate the experience with greater variety in play, more focused storytelling, and more natural pacing; deliver a world worth protecting; and finally, give you all the tools you need to make it fun to do so.

It means improving and refining on what came before with fresh content, to be certain, but it also means staying true to that unique personality, using it to inform every decision we make.

We've added a few new things to The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to achieve that end. First and foremost, we...

Tearaway: Building Your Own Papercraft World on PlayStation Vita

50°
53w ago - Sony Community Manager James Spafford shared details today on building your own papercraft world in Tearaway on PlayStation Vita.

To quote: Tearaway is a game set in a papery world, which means that if you wanted to, you could craft the entire game from paper in the real world - and that's exactly what we hope people will do!

To help you along your way, we've filled the game will collectible papercraft plans, which you can unlock as you journey through the world.

As you play, you'll come across creatures, plants or objects that appear to be drained of their colour. Taking a picture of them with your character's in-game camera restores their colour, and unlocks their plan.

Each plan has various different skins - blank ones, or colorful ones, so you can either make something that looks like it does in the game, or customise them to look completely different and unique to you.

The plans will be accessed on our community website, where you'll find everything you've unlocked so far, and from here you'll be able to print them out, make them, and fill your house with papercraft!

The journey doesn't end there though. Once you've made your papercraft model, you can upload a picture of your creation to the website to share it with the...

Ready At Dawn: Building a New London for The Order: 1886 on PS4

200°
56w ago - Ready At Dawn Studios CEO and Creative Director Ru Weerasuriya announced today that they are building a new London for The Order: 1886 on PS4.

To quote: When creating our alternate history in The Order: 1886, our goal was to make the environment as believable as possible while at the same time adding our own twist to real places.

With the release of our trailer back at E3, we hinted at our vision of an alternate London.

This Neo-Victorian London will seem familiar to everyone, however, advances in technology will take center stage in many ways as you navigate the city. One of the main examples is the advent of electricity throughout the city, well before its time.

Gas lamps are replaced by electric street lights. Everywhere you go, you can hear the hum of electricity running through the city.

The London subway system is present in our version of the world, but it's much more advanced than it was in real life. Certain sections of the subway system run above ground in between buildings throughout the city. Electric signs line the streets making some areas of London almost look like Times Square.

The other big change you will witness is in the skyline of London. Although the familiar sights of Big Ben, St. Paul's, and the Tower Bridge are present,...
