To quote: Stretching back from my roots as a tournament player to my current gig as lead game designer for Sony's Santa Monica Studio, I've spent over two decades in fighting games, and have been thrilled to revisit so many great memories from my own PlayStation history with the characters and stages of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
I'm here today on behalf of SuperBot Entertainment, Bluepoint Games, and Santa Monica Studio to announce that PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has gone gold on PS3 and PS Vita! All of us are extremely grateful for the help from our beta players in testing our networking, and thrilled to see the amazing response from all of you that played the beta, which is just a small slice of the full game.
In celebration of this milestone, we wanted to share something special as a small "thank you!" to all the amazing PlayStation fans who have helped us come so far. Today we're officially unveiling the opening cinematic sequence to the game.
87w ago - Insomniac Games Senior Community Manager James Stevenson has shared a video trailer today showcasing the Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One Luminopolis Boss Battle below.
To quote: We hope you've been enjoying the Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One Limited Beta. We gave out tons of codes last week, and if for some reason you haven't gotten a code to download it yet, check out the special pre-order deal we have going on with Amazon. If you pre-order from now until September 26th, you get into the beta!
Also, if you get over to RatchetAndClank.com before supplies run out, we're giving away a limited number of access codes on the homepage as well! The beta features one-to-four player online and offline co-op, as well as two segments from different locations in the game and a cross-section of the inventive arsenal you've come to expect from Ratchet & Clank games.
One of the frequent questions we get is how the evil Dr. Nefarious ended up with Ratchet, Clank, and President Qwark. We actually explain this at the beginning of the game: Ratchet, Clank and Qwark have arrived on the planet of Luminopolis...
90w ago - Today Reuters (linked above) reports that Sony has hired the former director of the U.S. National Cyber Security Center Philip Reitinger to oversee PSN security in an effort to prevent further breaches in their network.
To quote: "Certainly the network issue was a catalyst for the appointment," a Sony spokesman said. "We are looking to bolster our network security even further."
Shares in Sony have fallen 55 percent since the company revealed the hacking on April 27, sparking widespread criticism and casting a shadow over its plans for expansion in online businesses including music and movie distribution.
Concerns about losses in the TV department and the yen's rise against the euro have also contributed to Sony's woes.
Reitinger, who has also worked for Microsoft and the U.S. Department of Defense, will be based in Washington."
127w ago - Q-Games Ltd President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert has made available a video today showcasing PixelJunk Shooter 2 PSN online battles, 20 weapons, and a new boss.
To quote: Here at Q-Games we've been ultra-busy finishing PixelJunk Shooter 2; unfortunately it took a little longer than we expected but that's because of a number of (very cool) reasons!
You may have already heard, but PixelJunk Shooter 2 has the most insanely fun online Versus mode that has ever been created. Rather than just do a simple battling-type system, we created a special cat-and-mouse type game which has you and the enemy take turns as cat or mouse, either scouring the stage for the other player or running away from him.
The trick being that the "mouse" is invisible to the other player unless he views you directly, so you can sneak around collecting the survivors and transporting them to your base. Each survivor that goes into your base is an extra point. But watch out: When it is the other player's turn to play mouse they can steal them back if they are cunning enough.
Carefully laid out on top of this really addictive core game is a league system that earns you "money" that you can use to buy...
138w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has announced that Castlevania: Lords of Shadow hits the PS3 entertainment system today, and fans can celebrate with boss battles.
To quote: Not long ago, Konami Producer Dave Cox dropped by to set up the premise of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, a re-imagining of the classic whip-cracking, vampire-slaying series PlayStation fans know and love.
In many ways, Lords of Shadow is a radical departure from previous installments. The combat is more visceral, the visuals are more cinematic, and the scope is more epic.
These qualities are on display in spades in the latest Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Developer Insights video, which Konami has kindly passed along for your viewing pleasure.
Not only will you learn about the combat benefit of fairies (no, really), you'll catch a glimpse of several new boss battles, culminating with a series of Titan encounters that will make any Shadow of the Colossus fan quiver in anticipation.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow arrives today on the PS3 in North America, on Blu-ray. If you picked it up already, be sure to let us know what you think...
