Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel - The Power of Claptrap Detailed

50°
2w ago - Gearbox Software Content Editor Andrew Goldfarb shared details today on Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel - The Power of Claptrap for PlayStation 3 below.

To quote: Since we announced [Register or Login to view links], there's one question we've gotten more than any other: what is Claptrap's action skill? Up until now we haven't said much, but today we're happy to reveal that it's as weird as you might have hoped.

Claptrap's action skill is named VaultHunter.exe, and when he uses it he's granted one of several random abilities for a short time.

If you're lucky and Claptrap's programming is working properly, you might get a brief opportunity to use a version of another Vault Hunter's skill, like becoming a Gunzerker (In Claptrap's case, Funzerking!) or a Mechromancer (You'll love your new fire rate!).

If you're less lucky, you might be stuck bouncing up and down uncontrollably or launching a torrent of grenades that will obliterate friend and foe alike.

Beyond that, depending on the skill tree you choose, Claptrap may also gain the ability to cycle between subroutines that increase his efficiency with different types of guns, health regeneration,...

Sony Reveals Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel PS3 for PlayStation 3

20w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill revealed Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel PS3 for the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

To quote: More Borderlands? Yes please!

2K just announced Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, a new entry in the awesome/ridiculous/ridiculously-awesome FPS series from Gearbox. It takes place between Borderlands 1 and 2, and explores the rise of the latter's charmingly sadistic villain: Handsome Jack. Oh, and it's on the moon.

Offensive opportunities will be plentiful, with new laser-based and "Cryo" weapons joining the already gargantuan armory present on Pandora, and you can play as one of four new characters - including Claptrap.

Read on for full details about Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, straight from 2K.

Handsome Jack is back with a whole new cast of playable characters and he's taking you to the moon of Pandora in the next standalone AAA game in 2K's best-selling franchise - Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. 2K announced today that the game is being co-developed by Gearbox Software and 2K Australia, and will be available later this fall for the PlayStation 3. See, aren't you glad you kept your PS3!?

Narratively, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel takes place between the original Borderlands game and Borderlands 2. For the very first...

Borderlands 2: Mechromancer, Captain Scarlett DLC on PSN Tuesday

50°
98w ago - Borderlands 2 Game Designer Jonathan Hemingway has shared details today on the Mechromancer and Captain Scarlett DLC which arrives on PSN this Tuesday.

To quote: Hey guys, Jonathan from Gearbox here! I was walking around the office the other day and wouldn't you know it – Sir Hammerlock came up to me and handed me a letter and asked if I could share it with you. Here's what he had to say:

Dear Vault Hunters,

I'm well aware of your never-ending thirst for things to shoot and or loot, and I'm positively thrilled to announce some news nestled firmly in that avenue. Not one, but TWO pieces of downloadable content (or "DLC," for the acronym-fond amongst you) for Borderlands 2 will soon be available for your procurement.

Have you ever dreamt about romancing a mech? If so, then you have been greatly misinformed about the new character class DLC. You shall receive the pleasure of playing as Gaige the Mechromancer (she's a mechro-mancer, rather than a mech-romancer, you see - the importance of syllabic emphases can seldom be understated), a spectacularly brilliant prodigy of a girl who uses her robotic friend to slash, punch, and otherwise eviscerate the many fearsome foes of Pandora.

She can also manipulate electricity by invoking the power of science. I also hear...

Can we expect better more consistent framerate this time around?...

Borderlands 2: PAX East Returns to Pandora on PlayStation 3

100°
125w ago - Producer Matt Charles has shared details today on Borderlands 2 from PAX East for PlayStation 3 fans today!

To quote: This weekend at the Borderlands 2 booth, we granted PAX East visitors chance to play with two brand-new characters for Borderlands 2 - Salvador the Gunzerker and Maya the Siren - in a new environment called the Caustic Caverns.

The Gunzerker and Siren classes have made great strides compared to their counterparts from the original game. Players who choose to play as Salvador will be able to use his Gunzerking ability to run into a crowd with two guns blazing.

If you played the first game, you may recognize this as an evolution of Brick's Berserking skill. Meanwhile, Maya's new Siren skill Phaselock isolates an enemy inside a phase bubble for a short time.

Once you've Phaselocked a target, your primary choice is whether to focus your fire on the helpless foe before it breaks free or mop up any other threats nearby. Decisions, decisions!

Borderlands has a strong history of co-op gameplay and that's still a core promise of this game. At PAX, we watched as Siren players Phaselocked an enemy, leaving an opening for the Gunzerker buddy to run up, dual-wielding, and take out the target just in the nick of time.

I'm also happy...
