31w ago - Blizzard Entertainment's Ulvareth of the Community Team announced that fans can try Diablo III on PS3 for free today!

To quote: Greetings PlayStation gamers! It's been a week since Diablo III launched on PlayStation 3 to some very positive reviews.

If you've yet to pick up your controllers and join the epic struggle between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells, we've got great news for you: the free demo version of Diablo III is now available for download from the PlayStation Store!

In this demo, you can take control of two of Sanctuary's most iconic heroes, the mighty Barbarian or the mysterious Wizard, and fight your way through hordes of demons to reach the Skeleton King.

Slaying demons is a lot of fun, especially when you're playing with your buddies, so we're happy to let you know that most multiplayer features are available for you to try in the demo version. This includes local same-screen co-op and online play with your PlayStation Network friends who also have the demo version.

Blizzard: Diablo III on PlayStation 3 is Hand-Crafted for Consoles

250°
41w ago - Blizzard Entertainment Lead Designer Jason Bender proclaimed today that Diablo III on PlayStation 3 is hand-crafted for video game consoles.

He stated the following, to quote: I just got back from E3, where we had a good showing of the PlayStation 3 version of Diablo III and announced some cool PS3-exclusive items for the game.

The excitement and energy of the show reminded me of a time when people actually left the house to play videogames. Yes, I'm talking about arcades: magical places filled with vibrant colors, flashing lights, and the never-ending clink-clink-clink of tokens cascading out of a change machine.

There you could find the latest and greatest games--and people to play them with. Arcades were a uniquely social experience. You could hang out and have fun with friends, or you could make new ones while bonding over joysticks.

When we decided to bring Diablo III to console platforms, we wanted our four-player co-op to allow for the same spirit of fun that thrived in arcades. Our game had to allow for equal parts teamwork and trash talking, sweaty-palmed intensity and lighthearted mass destruction.

Blizzard Confirms Diablo III is Coming to PlayStation 3 September 3rd

100°
45w ago - Blizzard Entertainment Lead Designer Jason Bender confirmed today that Diablo III is coming to PlayStation 3 on September 3rd, 2013.

Below are the details, to quote: Greetings, PlayStation Nation! I'm excited to tell you that on September 3rd, PlayStation 3 gamers will join the eternal struggle between the High Heavens and the Burning Hells.

That's right, Diablo III is coming to PS3, so you'll want to make sure your couch can seat four comfortably- when you're smiting hordes of vile demons, it's good to have someone watching your back. So yeah, you might need a bigger couch.

My team has been hard at work custom-tailoring the PS3 version of Diablo III. We're putting all the fast-paced action (and shiny loot) that Diablo is known for into the palms of your hands in a way that feels natural and fun to play using a controller.

With direct character control and an intuitive user interface, all your demon-slaying skills are just a button-press away, so you'll be able to dive right in and vanquish evil with reckless abandon.

With the game now just three months away, it's a good time to preorder your copy with your local retailer.

Blizzard Reveals Diablo III is Coming to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4

100°
60w ago - Blizzard Co-Founder & Chief Development Officer Frank Pearce has revealed that Diablo III is coming to PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 with details below.

To quote: Now that Diablo's out of the bag, I just want to say that we're stoked to be bringing Diablo III over to PlayStation. We got our start in console games, and a bunch of us, myself included, have been looking forward to this day for a very long time.

We're putting a lot of work into doing Diablo III right for PS3 and PS4. All of the upgrades we've made to the PC version since launch will be included. On top of that, we're completely redeveloping the interface, controls, and camera so that the traditional Diablo hack-and-slash, loot-collecting, dungeon-crawl feels natural and fun with a controller in your hands.

I know a lot of people will have a lot of questions about the game, and we look forward to getting into all of that as development progresses. For now, I just want to say thanks to all of you who kept pushing us to get back to console, and please come check out the game at PAX East if you're in Boston in late March.

Blizzard's Pardo: Natal May Struggle with Spatial Recognition

200°
243w ago - Blizzard design boss Rob Pardo claims XBox 360 motion-sensing unit Project Natal might not be the wonder-box Microsoft would have us believe.

To quote: "I've got to play with Natal a little bit, and it seems like the difficulty with it is still spatial recognition with moving your hands and doing things," said the exec, speaking at a StarCraft II single-player event in California last month.

"You'd actually still need an interface that you could do that with, and Natal is still going to be pretty imprecise in the way Wii is today," he said.

"I mean, I could see the future one day [allowing it], but I don't know if Natal's it. Maybe it's a step towards it."

Natal's expected to release in late 2010.
