5w ago - Namco Bandai Community Manager J Kartje announced that Dark Souls II is out today on PS3 with details below.

To quote: March 11th has arrived and it's time to go beyond death. The Dark Souls II servers are live and we're excited to see everyone online and exploring the world of Drangleic.

Today, we wanted to give an extended look at some of the Covenants that you may be joining in Dark Souls II. This is not a complete list as we wouldn't want to spoil the secrets that await you on your quest.

Covenant masters are scattered throughout the world of Dark Souls II and, under certain conditions, may invite you to join their ranks. Seek the protection of a noble order of knights. Defend against invaders from other worlds.

Set out on a lonely and arduous journey. Lay a trap and draw other players into your world. Protect a long-forgotten tower. Thirst for more blood. These tasks and more are laid before you as you deceive, challenge, and offer aid to fellow players online.

Way of the Blue

Not everyone seeks to challenge other players online. Joining the Way of the Blue will give a player access to a ring that will summon a member of the noble Blue Sentinels if invaded by an enemy player from another world. If you're not comfortable battling online...

Namco Bandai Unveils Dark Souls II PlayStation 3 Survival Guide

6w ago - Namco Bandai Community Manager J Kartje unveiled a Dark Souls II PlayStation 3 Survival Guide for PS3 fans today!

To quote: Dark Souls II continues a long tradition of games that will challenge even the most veteran of gamers. You'll explore, experiment, and die many times throughout your quest.

While it would be against From Software's design philosophy to give you a detailed map of the world and a full explanation of the game's story, we did want to give you a few pointers before you go beyond death come March 11th on PS3.

A few basic changes exist within Dark Souls II that even the Souls veterans might want to know before venturing into the land of Drangleic:

Fast Travel: Bonfire's serve as the "checkpoints" in Dark Souls II. As soon as you light a new Bonfire, you're able to travel between that fire and any other Bonfire that you've lit.

Leveling: Spending hard-earned souls to level up can only happen with the Emerald Herald, a specific NPC you'll need to return to each time you wish to seek more power.

Welcome to Majula: Soaked in eerie sunlight, you'll be roaming around the hub town of Majula early on in your quest. Majula houses the Emerald Herald, vendors, merchants, and other persons of interest that will help you piece together the many...

Dark Souls II for PlayStation 3: Hands-on: Die Harder on PS3

50°
11w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman shared a hands-on PS3 preview for Dark Souls II on PlayStation 3 dubbed Die Harder below.

To quote: Fear not! Based on my initial hands-on experiences, Dark Souls II is proving to be even more fiendishly challenging than its famously difficult predecessor.

I learned this when the very first enemy in the game, a monstrous ogre-like creature sporting a pendulous gut, lifted me into the air and gnawed on my head like a Tootsie pop. I died kicking and screaming.

After reviving, I opted to steer clear of the brute until I'd found a better weapon. But misfortune struck moments later when I was overwhelmed by a swarm of tiny, mewling dog creatures. Pushing on, I faced a gauntlet of towering undead knights, each powerful enough to cleave me in two with a swing of a massive sword.

After dying repeatedly, I finally zig-zagged past them and through a nearby door. Big mistake: here, perched precariously on a narrow platform, I faced off with an armored, giant boss who swung a halberd with lethal accuracy. Yep, you better believe I died.

Though Dark Souls II wastes no time in throwing the player into the deep end of the pool, its core gameplay has also undergone many subtle tweaks that further contribute to its bruising difficulty level....

Hands-on with Diablo III (and Reaper of Souls) on PlayStation 4

50°
23w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Justin Massongill is here with a hands-on look at Diablo III (and Reaper of Souls) on PlayStation 4 below!

To quote: I'm here in Anaheim for Blizzcon 2013, and as anyone who knows me might have guessed, the first thing I did when I got here was make a beeline for the Diablo III booth to get some hands-on time with its in-development PS4 version.

Let's get the obvious stuff out of the way first: Diablo III looks good on PS4. The demo I played didn't stutter or hitch once - the PS4 version runs at 1080p and 60FPS or better throughout, as confirmed by Production Director John Hight when I spoke with him on the show floor.

Everything looks tack-sharp, and plenty of extra bits have been added or tweaked in Diablo III's PS4 version. Just wait 'til you see the glow of a freshly dropped health globe reflected in a pool of stagnant water.

Diablo III's DualShock 4 controls are still being tweaked and perfected, but the touchpad implementation today was largely gesture-based, swiping left and right to switch to different inventory and skill subsections. It's pretty hard to improve on the perfection of Diablo III's radial menus as they are on PS3, but DualShock 4′s touchpad makes for a suitable change of...
