45w ago - Sega of America Associate Brand Manager Aaron Webber has shared a video confirming that Bayonetta for PS3 bewitches PlayStation Network today.
Below are the details, to quote: It's been a good month for Platinum Games and SEGA titles.
Just a few weeks ago saw the release of Anarchy Reigns on PS3; later today will mark the digital release of one of the finest action games ever created. Bayonetta is coming to PSN!
If you have yet to try this iconic action game from the mind of director Hideki Kamiya, your time has come as Bayonetta is debuting at $19.99. Of course, Bayonetta truly shines when you see it in action.
So here's a trip back to the year 2010, when a certain Launch Trailer was just arriving...
Bayonetta is the story of the last remaining member of an ancient clan called the Umbra Witches, a group that has kept the balance between light, dark, and chaos for hundreds of years. Bayonetta awakens after 500 years of sleep to find herself in a world she no longer recognizes, with no clues to her past or how she got where she is.
Her awakening sparks a chain of events that soon reaches cataclysmic proportions....
219w ago - Today JoyStiq posted a video (below) from Tokyo Game Show 2009 showcasing Bayonetta for PlayStation 3.
To quote from their synopsis on the PS3 title: "Centered on the exploits of an improbably posh witch and her fashionable pair of gun boots, Bayonetta feels like the result of designer Hideki Kamiya answering every development question with, "Sure, why not?"
The game's hyper excess occasionally veers into the distasteful - Bayonetta's clothing seems to come and go as it pleases - but it mostly leads to situations that feel creative and surprising.
Even a boss fight avoids routine by constantly changing pace: a battle on a bridge eventually becomes airborne after the whole structure is flung across the stage, and the ordeal isn't over until after a brief chase and a final showdown atop a winding set of stairs."
221w ago - Today gimmeGTD of GameTrailers have shared a new Bayonetta video which covers the first 10 minutes of the game.
According to Kotaku, Sega plans to region-lock the title which is quite unusual for a PS3 game indeed.
To quote: "Unsurprisingly, we were told that the Japanese version would not be region free, meaning that North American and European consoles won't play import copies. The reason? It would impact sales of the game outside of Japan, we were told.
That's not that uncommon for Japanese Xbox 360 releases. The vast majority of games released in Japan for Microsoft's box won't play on anything but Japanese consoles. But the PlayStation 3 version? The games are almost all (thankfully) region-free. Locking down that version would be an unusual move on Sega's part."
Below is a 10-minute sneak peek at the upcoming action title developed by Platinum Games. Bayonetta is set for European and North American release in January 2010 on Sony's PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft XBox 360 console.
