208w ago - During the opening of the Video Game Awards 2009 a massive present was sat in the middle of the stage.
A pair of men ran onto the stage before it was blasted open all the while a Joker style voiceover set up the VGA's first world exclusive.
A CG trailer (below) showing Gotham rife with crime was shown. While no game title was announced, it seems certain that a sequel to the highly successful title from Rocksteady Studios is to receive a sequel.
To quote: "Batman: Arkham Asylum 2 was revealed during the opening of Video Game Awards. It is a sequel to one of the nominees for Game of the Year: Batman: Arkham Asylum, which was released earlier this summer.

221w ago - It appears Eidos is attempting to combat piracy of Batman: Arkham Asylum by disabling the all-important Glide ability if you aren't running a legitimate version.
In the official Eidos forums under a thread called 'Problem with Glide' a (pirated version) user explains his frustration that when holding space bar on the PC version of the game Batman's Cape remains closed and he falls to his death in poison gas.
To quote: Cheshirec_the_cat: Hi! I've got a problem when it's time to use Batman's glide in the game. When I hold , like it's said to jump from one platform to another, Batman tries to open his wings again and again instead of gliding. So he fels down in a poisoning gas. If somebody could tel me, what should I do there.
Keir (Eidos): The problem you have encountered is a hook in the copy protection, to catch out people who try and download cracked versions of the game for free.
It's not a bug in the game's code, it's a bug in your moral code."

225w ago - The PC version of Batman: Arkham Asylum won't be released until September, but there are already benchmarks and a widescreen mode test available.
Widescreen Gaming Forum have reported the tested version of Batman: Arkham Asylum offers native support for widescreen and surround gaming screen resolutions.
But while the field of view is increased in the game itself, the menus are cut in height.
The game was also test run at maximal graphics settings and different resolutions. The Geforce GTX 295 that has been used for the tests delivered more than 40 fps if the resolution is set to 1920 x 1200 pixels or below.
At 2560 x 1600 the framerate drops below 30 fps and at 5040 x 1050 pixels the graphics card only delivers about 15 fps. Besides that 18 combinations of detail settings, Anti Aliasing and Physx settings have been tested to find the best compromise between visual quality and performance.
