Microsoft has revealed a batch of new software titles for the XBox 360 during its keynote session at the Tokyo Game Show today, naming the Halo project recently revealed by Bungie.

Halo 3 Recon is dated for autumn 2009, and sees the return of Microsoft's number one franchise to the XBox 360 system with new single and multiplayer content.

The latest big name franchise to make the leap to Microsoft's console is Tekken 6 from Namco Bandai, also due next autumn.

Tekken follows Final Fantasy as a franchise previously associated with Sony's PlayStation brand and highlights the recent trend for Japanese developers to go multiformat with releases.

A sequel to the Q Entertainment title Ninety Nine Nights is also due for the system, along with a handful of new XBox Live titles including Metal Slug 7 and King of Fighters 98 Ultimate Match from SNK Playmore.

Sometime in December or at the latest January, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will release the first Resident Evil all-CGI movie on Blu-ray Disc, day-and-date with DVD and PSP.

Sony describes what will be the fourth Resident Evil film as follows:

The "Umbrella Incident" that took place in Raccoon City was ended with the eradication of the deadly virus by a missile attack ordered by the government. As its operations were suspended on a global scale, Umbrella Corporation stock plummeted. This serious blow to the business giant resulted in its complete dissolution.

7 years later, at an airport somewhere in the United States. An ordinary autumn afternoon. One zombie is unleashed into this peaceful scene to attack everyone. In the airport starting to fill up with the undead, the horrific disaster is about to be repeat itself...

We've got early Blu-ray specs and extra features to share which include a nod to Resident Evil 5 on Playsta... More »

It was never going to be pretty - and with Guitar Hero World Tour set to go head to head with Rock Band 2 this autumn, the rock 'n' roll royal rumble has begun in earnest.

Speaking to Eurogamer last week at Game Convention 2008, Guitar Hero director Brian Bright scorned Harmonix' attempts to match the feature set of the World Tour drum kit, while ostensibly clearing up the mystery surrounding the rumored new peripherals for Neversoft's title.

"I don't know how far ahead they planned that - we obviously revealed [our drum kit] much earlier than they did," said Bright, referencing Harmonix' plan to release separate clip-on cymbals for Rock Band set-ups.

"I've a feeling there was a: 'Oh! There's cymbals! How can we put cymbals on our kit?' That would be the easiest way without having to rewire everything and re-engineer the entire circuit board."

Guitar Hero World Tour's drum kit, coming almost a year after Rock Band first took... More »

While the wait for Sony to confirm a long overdue release date for Home, it's just confirmed that PS3 owners in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan will get access to the online virtual world this autumn.

Sony will also begin closed beta testing in the region in mid-September, the release confirms (via Kotaku), with details of how to get in on that appearing on the official site tomorrow.

As it stands, Home is expected out here in autumn too, and SCEE president David Reeves promised that it was well on track for that release.

However, both E3 and the Leipzig Games Convention have passed without a mention of Home's release.

To quote: During a press conference in Santa Monica, SCEE President, David Reeves, said the online 3D community service would arrive "with the same specs, same support and at the same time in autumn 2008." He went on to say that an exact date for its release would be announced by SCEI "very shortly."

Home has been delayed by almost a year from its original launch date. The service creates a virtual social environment to interact with other PS3 users, launch online games such as Warhawk, play mini-games such as bowling and pool, share private content and show off your personal space customised with furniture, wallpaper and other items.
