Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) have announced that they will be making many improvements to the PlayStation Network Store.

They stated they will be improving the digital quality of the games that are soon to be arriving on the store, to quote:

For the few years the store has been online, it has been in a huge competition with the 360's version of PSN, XBLA.

Items for the PSP like songs will be better quality when downloaded from your PC. The PSN Store sees games such as Fat Princess coming soon and with a huge range of PS one originals also on their way, Sony are putting their all into the PlayStation for the moment.

Despite having over 200 full games already on the network, Sony are planning to expand that to around 300 by the end of the year.

It is also rumored that Sony have secured exclusivity for DLC content for upcoming games. Xbox Live needs to watch their backs for the moment.

President of Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar's parent company) Ben Feder has explained why Agent (announced at Sony's E3 2009 press conference) is a PlayStation 3 exclusive title.

According to RockStar, at this phase when you are trying to launch a new franchise, exclusivity can help you launch it. Through going exclusive, you also get more first party support.

To quote: "At this phase in the cycle, when you're trying to launch a new franchise, exclusivity can really help you launch the franchise.

It can give you the kind of platform that you need to start exclusive, start in the right kind of way with the right kind of partner. Exclusivity does work", Feder went on.

Agent is being overseen by the Housers, founding fathers of Rockstar. Development is being handled by Rockstar North, the studio behind GTA IV.

With E3 2009 being over, some are left wondering why Sony didn't announce a PS3 price cut as speculated through this year's conference.

Sony answered during a recent interview with Kotaku, as follows:

Despite expectations that Sony would lower the price of the PS3 at E3, the company announced no price drop at the big show. We asked why.

"From our perspective, this show is all about content," Sony's head of PlayStation marketing in the U.S., Peter Dille, told Kotaku in an interview yesterday. "We believe that our content story is unrivaled.

It's really a relentless line-up of great exclusive games that will speak volumes to the value inherent in the PS3. Obviously people come to E3 expecting all sorts of announces.

We've got a plan in place for the platform. A price drop at the show wasn't part of it."

SCEA President Jack Tretton joked as he took the stage, "Thank god you guys showed up."

His self-deprecating, nervous laughter was directed at all of the company's leaks - even Sony boss Kaz Hirai admitted the PSP Go! was "the worst-kept secret of E3.

But Sony's audience was there to applaud every stat: 364 games are coming to PlayStation 3 in the next year; the platform generated 30 percent of total retail sales for the industry in 2008.

To quote: "It's just the beginning of what we expect in 2009," Tretton said.

"I suspect the reason some of you have bags under your eyes is because you've been playing Infamous since it came out last week." Applause, cheers - and audible gasps - for the frankly breathtaking Uncharted 2 footage presented by Naughty Dog's Evan Wells, who said it "sets the new gold standard in limit-pushing."
