If you're still having trouble tracking down Samsung's SpinPoint M6 to boost your PS3 HDD storage space, Western Digital is now shipping a PS3-compatable 500GB 2.5-Inch drive ($220), with a whopping 1TB drive expected by 2010.
To quote: WD has just announced that it has started volume shipping its 500GB 2.5-inch Scorpio Blue drive, a notebook drive with 250GB per platter and a 5,400rpm spin speed. Seagate expects to ship its half terabyte 2.5-incher before the end of the year.
Our sources say WD and Fujitsu will have 750GB 2.5-inch drives by mid-2009 and 1 terabyte units by early 2010, if not the end of 2009. WD is building quite a track record of pipping Seagate by introducing notebook drives at progressively higher capacity points first, doing t... More »
Xabora posted up some rumors regarding potential upcoming Xbox stuff at NeoGAF linked above. The Xbox 360 will be slimming down to a Wii-like size, this model should have a GPU and CPU combo dye with E-DRAM off to the side.
Next up is the model after the 360 that is expected to have a Blu-ay drive, quad core CPU, 1TB hard drive and a sepculative release date of 2010.
To quote: Today I ran across some information. However I do live in an area with a good deal of employees/contractors from a rather large corporation and have worked with some of them in my past. So lets start off with some of the info I was given starting with the 360 in general.
From what I was told during a conversation; Microsoft seems to be slimming the system down to a 'Wii-like' size. (A Fat overweight Wii) This model should have the CPU+GPU Combo Dye with the E-DRAM off to the side. Thats all the information I have on that.
The X360 needs a new SKU, and this is what it should include...
Look left, look right and there is nothing but good games on the horizon as far as the eye can see, especially for the Xbox 360. To one side you have an awesome catalogue of hits, from Dead Rising to Halo 3 and Just Cause to Mass Effect.
On the other there’s Fable 2, GTA IV, Too Human, Halo Wars and more coming our way. But look directly in front of you at the machine that can play all these wonders and there is a maligned console struggling to keep up with the pace. Microsoft needs to get serious and release a new SKU for their console that gives it a fresh image, and a fresh sense of purpose. And here's how...
Before we start, we should point out that we love the gaming we've had on our Xbox 360s, were just not oblivious to its flaws. This is not an attack: it is a call to arms, a request to Microsoft, to do something positive to make video gaming better for everyone.

Huge speed, performance and expandability feature in latest professional desktop Macs.
Apple has introduced its fastest-ever professional Macs, introducing re-vamped versions of the Mac Pro and Xserve.
Available immediately, the new Mac Pro's offer eight processor cores and a new system architecture that the company claims offers "up to twice the performance of its predecessor". The new professional desktop Macs use two of Intel's brand-new 45-nanometre Quad-Core Xeon processors running at up to 3.2GHz.
These new Macs also offer much-improved graphics and up to 4TB of internal storage for creative professionals, with listed price starting at just £1,749 (including VAT).
"The new Mac Pro is the fastest Mac we've ever made," said Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide product marketing. "With 3.2GHz 8-core Xeon processing, a 1,600MHz front side bus and 800MHz memory, the new Mac Pro uses the fastest Intel Xeon arc... More »
While you're down on the street corner, sweating, hustling and dancing to Stones tracks from the early 80's, Samsung is hard at work creating the next-greatest thing you'll ever own.
Enter the Korean company's latest coup de grace, a 1.3-inch hard drive targeted at "mobile consumer devices." 1.3-inch, folks -- that's real, real small. To put it in perspective, current iPod Classic drives are 1.8-inches, so you can imagine the tiny possibilities.
Apparently, the magically delicious devices will be announced at the CES in January (where your faithful Engadget team will be avoiding the sleep-monster and scooping the heck out of stories).
In addition to the tiny hard drive, Samsung will also be announcing a 1TB, 3.5-inch RAID Edition drive, and a less exciting 2.5-inch, 320GB disk. Except to hear more... say, in January.
Rather than investing in one of the competing high-definition disk formats right now, a technologically sound alternative might be to hedge your bets by plumping for a hard-drive solution such as the latest from I-O Data Japan.
The ¥99,800 (£445) Rec-POT HVR-HD1000EX features a whopping 1TB hard drive that can store over 100 hours of full-definition HD TV or 250 hours of standard digital broadcasting.
FireWire over and out
An update from earlier models, the HD1000EX brings new firmware to the mix that allows for easier handling and sorting of the program library and some image-enhancement tricks.
Like the rest of the Rec-POT series, the new model connects by FireWire to anything from a Sharp HD TV set to a Panasonic Blu-ray recorder, making for a very flexible alternative to jumping aboard a ship that may not be long in the water.
The I-O Data Rec-POT HVR-HD1000EX has enough room for four days of HD TV pic below.
