Today gkrykewy on NeoGAF (linked above) reports that the XBox 360 Arcade will be just $200 with a $100 gift card at Wal-Mart starting this Saturday, November 7, 2009.

The offer is set to end on November 13, 2009 so those interested in taking advantage of the deal may want to do so as soon as possible.

According to [Register or Login to view links], the retailer will also be selling a Sony Blu-ray player for $148.

To quote: "From CAG and Fatwallet - runs through 11/13, apparently.

Not a bad deal at all if you want to trade up to a Jasper... which is what I'm thinking of doing."

FYE, Hastings Ad Reveals $100 Price Cut on Sony's PlayStation 3

100°
271w ago - Following analyst Michael Pachter's prediction from earlier today comes another PS3 price cut ad leak... this time from Hastings, a Texas-based retailer.

According to the ad, the current stock of 160GB PS3s will be cut to $400, a $100 savings over the original.

In related news, [Register or Login to view links] is reporting FYE is now selling 80GB PS3 consoles for $299, with the Uncharted bundle for $400.

To quote: Of potential importance is the phrasing: the ad mentions the PS3 is experiencing a "price cut" versus a temporary "sale." The cut begins September 8th, weeks after Sony's press conference at Gamescom.

The reduced price could be exclusive to Hastings, and isn't necessarily indicative of a nationwide price drop. However, a price drop on current PS3 models can clear inventory and make way for a possibly upgraded one.

Analyst: PS3 Price Must be Reduced by $100 to Meet Sales

500°
284w ago - Here we go again... Analyst Colin Sebastian believes Sony's forecasts will only be achievable if they cut the price of the PS3 console by $100.

He noted Sony's outlook supports expectations for a PS3 price reduction this year, likely to be some point between E3 and end of the summer.

To quote: Analyst Colin Sebastian claims Sony's forward forecasts can only come into fruition if PS3 price falls by $100.

Sony yesterday [Register or Login to view links] that PS3 unit sales would increase by 3m (30 per cent) in the next 12 months - a figure that Lazard Capital Markets' Colin Sebastian says can only be achieved via a $100 price cut to the machine.

"PS3 guidance suggests pending price reduction - timing and amount uncertain," Sebastian explained in an investor guidance statement.

"We believe Sony's outlook supports expectations for a PS3 price reduction this year, likely at some point between the E3 industry conference in June and the end of the summer, as Sony is able to reduce PS3 production costs.

"A significant price cut could provide the PS3 with a needed shot in the arm. In addition to a $100 price reduction, which would put the PS3 in easier reach of a mass-market audience,...

GameStop Promotion: Trade in a PS2, Get $100 off a PS3

400°
286w ago - Don't have a PS3 yet? [Register or Login to view links] has a very good promotion right now, allowing you to save $100 off the purchase of a 80GB PS3 system when you trade in your PS2 and three games, as follows:

To get the credit, your system must include AV cables, power cable and a working DualShock 2 controller. Most PS2 games will be eligible for the promo, but they must be worth at least $2 in trade value, meaning your old copy of Madden '04 will definitely not work.

Considering the cost of a new PS2 is now $100, this is quite possibly the best deal you'll be able to get on selling your old and busted system.

With Uncharted 2, MAG, Heavy Rain and a number of PS3 exclusives in the pipeline, now might be the time to jump in... unless you're waiting for that still-elusive price drop.

Confirmed: PlayStation 2 Will Be Available for Under $100

250°
290w ago - Today Sony's Hardware Marketing Director John Koller has officially confirmed what the rest of us knew previously.

To quote: For the first time ever, PlayStation 2 will be offered at a price point under $100 (that's $99.99 MSRP, to be exact), starting April 1!

Why is this so significant? Well most importantly, this new price means that more people than ever will be able to join in on the fun that so many of you PlayStation 2 owners have been enjoying for years, which means new families will become part of the platform's record-breaking install base.

With this new price, we intend to introduce a new generation of consumers - some of whom weren't even alive when the system was first introduced in 2000 - to the immense entertainment value offered by PlayStation 2.

In the gaming industry, the typical lifecycle for a console is around five years, but because we build each of our platforms for a large and diverse consumer base, we design our platforms differently. With the original PlayStation and now PlayStation 2, we've proven that consumers can rely on our platforms for their gaming and entertainment needs for at least a decade.

This speaks to the technology...
