Paste Magazine has created a 'Top 10 NES Games of All Time' list today.
To quote: The video games on this list kept me company through many an elementary-school sleepover at friends' houses, provided endless fodder for recess playground conversation and even inspired a few short stories from yours truly (each plot revolving around the fantasy of getting sucked inside a video game).
In honor of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, I dedicate this list and to Shigeru Miyamoto and all the other folks at Nintendo who made all that fun possible... oh, and of course my beloved aunt Jean who sent me and my siblings our first NES console.

There’s not much point in us publishing a detailed explanation on where the problems are this time around. It comes down to nothing remarkable anyway - just more stupid, silly bugs. They fixed some and added more. We didn’t look much this time because we thought that, well, they really couldn’t have screwed it up this time, could they?

There's general agreement that Sony stumbled out of the gate with the PlayStation 3. Months of intense hype were followed by a late launch (fully a year after the Xbox 360) and a staggering $600 price tag for the deluxe model.
Even worse, the PS3 didn't initially have any real must-have exclusive titles, and despite the power of its vaunted Cell processor, multiplatform games from third-party developers didn't look appreciably better than the respective titles on the Xbox 360.
Since then, the company's been modifying the PlayStation product line to better fit the competitive market landscape. As of August 2008, a new "bargain" PS3 is available with a larger, 80GB hard drive, and a "deluxe" model is due in November, doubling the capacity to 160GB.

I’ve said it time and time again, video game storylines suck. But that doesn’t mean that the character’s in those horrible storylines can’t come up with pearls of wisdom (Or is it just comic gold?) when they open up their mouths.
Below are, in my opinion, the ten greatest phrases to ever come out of a video game character’s mouth. I’m sure I’m missing a few here, but that’s what comment boards are for. So here they are, the top ten phrases ever.
See if you can close your eyes and remember just how they sounded the first time you first heard them. Just don’t do it while you’re driving or operating heavy machinery. You should usually keep your eyes open for stuff like that.

Has there ever been a better video game series than the Zelda video game series? Maybe the Super Mario, Castlevania, Metroid and Mega Man series, but after those, Zelda has no competition.
The single factor that contributes towards a great gaming series is the amount of great games in the series. The same cannot be said for the Double Dragon series, for example, where it fell drastically in quality after Double Dragon 2.
In the Zelda series though, the games seemed to get better with each subsequent addition. This is rare for a video game series, and the Zelda series has been able to accomplish this with flying colors. Controversy will be heard in the sequencing of this list, but that only goes to show how strong each game in the series was.

Even though Twilight Princess was in development for years, in some ways, fans were disappointed. The game, while not even close to being a bad game, simply fell short of some expectations.
In a way, Shigeru Miyamoto feels the same way in that he feels as though “there was something missing” from the experience.
To quote: “That’s something that I talk to the members of my development team about on a regular basis. What I’ve been saying to our development teams recently is that “Twilight Princess” was not a bad game, by any means. But, still, it felt like there was something missing.
And while, personally, I feel like “Super Mario Galaxy” was able to do some things that were very new and were very unique, at the same time, from another perspective, certain elements of it do feel somewhat conservative in terms of how far we branched out with design.

What would you say is the greatest game of all time? Super Mario World? The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time? Halo? If so, you'd be wrong, if you were to believe Metacritic.
So this is just strange. The new WiiWare game, World of Goo, which was released to fairly little hype this past Monday, is now apparently one of the highest rated games of all time, according to Metacritic.
One look at the Metacritic page for the game will show that the game has an overall reviews average of 97, with three perfect scores and three that are in the '90s range. This puts the game in a position where it could actually take the title of "highest rated game of all time".
I haven't bought WoG yet, but seeing as how there's a free demo for the pc version available here, there's really no excuse for anyone to miss out.
