It's no secret that iPhone has turned the mobile phone industry on its head, sliding past its smartphone rivals with its sexy design. We know Apple has opened a new chapter in mobile technology, but the real story behind this is how the iPhone is quietly taking over pocket gaming.
Business Week has already pointed out what is clearly becoming a new player in the handheld market. Apple has set iPhone on the right track to contend with Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable as the definitive portable gaming platform new figures show. Sales of iPhone continue to increase with each passing month, not to mention downloads from the App Store.
Momentum behind iPhone can't be discredited either as developers both large and small are flocking to the system. It all points to the strong possibility that iPhone could become the leading device for handheld gaming in the coming years.
The argument isn't a new one, as we were one of the first to identify the pote... More »
From a very surprising yet highly reliable source, we’ve got the most likely and realistic Gran Turismo 5 release date!
Sony’s chief executive in southern Europe, James Armstrong, revealed in a statement to Spanish newspaper El Financiero that we can expect the game to arrive (in Europe, at least) Christmas 2009.
Here’s the full translated quote: "For next year, the chief executive of Sony Computer Entertainment for southern Europe said that they are developing a new game thriller, in which the player may be designing their own history, and the new version of Gran Turismo, which will arrive at Christmas."
This would provide for a late summer release in Japan, and late fall/early winter releases in the United States and Europe. From a sales perspective, it would also provide the PlayStation fr... More »
Over at GTPlanet, Marky264 discovered that you can get some cool Gran Turismo 5: Prologue stuff, including future information about private multiplayer races, via PlayStation Home BETA.
This only applies to folks who received invites to try out the BETA version of PlayStation Home, and it should be noted that these selected individuals need to have or create a Japanese PS3 account.
Once inside the Home BETA area (using Japanese account), you will see the Tokyo Game Show 08 booth become available. Once in there, you can get access to GT5: Prologue racing pods, with some content worthwhile of checking out.
Please note that the actual content doesn’t come alive till some time in the future, but just letting you know it’s there.

At a 10-year anniversary event, Polyphony Digital presented two technological trials for the next generation.
Both of the presentations were founded on the philosophy of “achieving the highest possible quality” held over the years by Gran Turismo... showing it off that at 2160p.
It was all part of a time trial showcasing Sony's latest SRX-S110 projector technology, which can support resolutions of 4096 x 2160 pixels.
To quote: One of these, was a time trial competition using Sony’s newest digital cinema projector, the “SRX-S110”. Gran Turismo 5 prologue is already in Full HD resolution at 1920 x 1080 pixels, providing the highest resolution possible in today’s TV content.
However in this time trial, the Full HD image was increased to twice the resolution both vertically and horizontally (4x the surface area), enabling game play at an ultra high resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels.

Recently Jeff Staples posted on his blog some text in Japanese, which contained some Gran Turismo 5 details.

The general post highlighted the advances of the GT title, as well as gave us a lot of insider information as to how the game is made, about the staff and developers and much more. We also get to see some of the vehicles coming to GT5.
Mercedes C63 AMG
From this diagram, we see what looks like a Mercedes C63 AMG. However I do not see the front fog light in the model, as you would see in the real C63 AMG. However, the grill and bumper flare kits look very much like the C63’s. Check out the real one below and tell us what you think.
