It was only meant to be a prototype. But 40 years after the computer mouse first scrolled its way into the public consciousness, new touch-screen technology could be about to consign the mouse to the annals of history.
The computer mouse was the creation of Doug Engelbart and his team at the Stanford Research Institute in California, who needed a simple way of controlling their computers. The result was a carved wooden block mounted on wheels, with a long cable trailing out the back. One researcher nicknamed it a mouse, and the moniker stuck.
"We thought that when it had escaped out to the world it would have a more dignified name," said Mr Engelbart. "But it didn't."

There was a rumored meet and greet that took place in the Home closed BETA that released details of PlayStation Home's upcoming release.
The meet and greet was held by the 3 head's of Home (hosted by Locust_Star and CydoniaX, and also they brought in Tdog) and announced the following:
- Home will be for use by those only 18+
- To gain cash in order to purchase things in Home you'll need to collect trophies (Currency System)
- There will be a random weather generator that produces rain, snow, clouds, sun, etc.
- The Home Open Beta will begin December 15th or 30th of this year
Some Home users have called this fake... so like most rumors, this is unconfirmed until it’s officially announced.
Despite recent reports of Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon being cancelled for PlayStation 3, a THQ UK representative told Eurogamer (linked above) that it will indeed still be arriving to Europe as scheduled on February 13th of 2009.
To quote: THQ has clarified the situation with Destroy All Humans! Path of Furon - saying the PS3 version will be released in Europe after all.
Yesterday it was reported that the game will only be available for Xbox 360 in the US. Now a THQ UK representative has stated both versions are still on track for a European release.
"Destroy all Humans: Path of the Furon will be released on both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 formats on February 13th 2009 across Europe," he stated.

Resistance 3 rumors are already surfacing on the Internet. Apparently, the follow up will be announced in February 2009 along with the first bunch of screens and solid details on the game with a view to the game being released November 10th exclusively on the PlayStation 3.
