Per Ro Hernandez (PLAYSTATION Store Team) via PS Blog today:

The last time I posted it was regarding our special E3 section on the PlayStation Store. This time around I wanted to tell you about a new offering that you’ll see tomorrow.

In addition to all the free themes you’ve already been getting and will continue to get on the PlayStation Store now, you’ll have the option to upgrade and purchase premium themes to customize the look of your PS3’s XMB.

We have linked up with a few partners, Smobile & Disruptive Media Publishers, to distribute premium themes from PlayStation Network.

They have content offerings that range in type from NCAA College licenses to beauties on the beach to original cartoons and anime. These themes were created specifically for the PS3 and have special backgrounds, XMB icons and, in some cases, sounds.

We have created a new “Premium Themes” section under Themes & Wallpapers ... More »

Tecmo have unveiled Quantum Theory for PS3 in the latest issue of Famitsu. The game looks like a third-person shooter, and will hit Japan in 2009 with Fatal Frame creator Keisuke Kikuchi overseeing the project's production.

According to information obtained from Famitsu, players take control of a man named Sid and set off to destroy the Tower of Light.

As players meet up a female named Firene later in the game, elements of teamwork will be present. However, is not yet known if you’ll actually be able to control both characters.

On Friday, Microsoft gave computer makers a six-month extension for offering Windows XP on newly-shipped PCs. While this doesn’t impact enterprise IT — because volume licensing agreements will allow IT to keep installing Windows XP for many years to come — the move is another symbolic nail in Vista’s coffin.

The public reputation of Windows Vista is in shambles, as Microsoft itself tacitly acknowledged in its Mojave ad campaign.

IT departments are largely ignoring Vista. In June (18 months after Vista’s launch), Forrester Research reported that just 8.8% of enterprise PCs worldwide were running Vista. Meanwhile, Microsoft appears to have put Windows 7 on an accelerated schedule that could see it released in 2010. That will provide IT departments with all the justification they need to simply skip Vista and wait to eventually standardize on Windows 7 as the next OS for business.

So how did Vista... More »

Looks like more trophies are headed Burnout's way in the Eastwood Update, which if you don't know also adds a whole new island to the game! Exciting stuff.

Also if you look closely you'll notice they say "Packs".. does that mean there will be more updates after Eastwood? How much more can Criterion add to this game?!

To quote: In a spectacular week of support for PlayStation 3 Paradise fans, we released our highly anticipated Burnout Bikes Pack (bringing a stack of new gameplay to Paradise City), the PSN version of the game (that's right, you can now buy Burnout Paradise on the PlayStation Store) and our PlayStation 3 Trophy Support Pack.

Here on the team, we're playing through Paradise picking up the wealth of trophies, and we know plenty of our fans have already blasted through and collected everything. How many have you got?

Did anyone else think that the Fracture demo wasn't as abysmal as you were expecting? Sure, it was the epitome of mediocre third-person action with a gimmick attached, but at times it was almost fun.

Well the full game is out this week in both the US and Europe and, unless you're a European lego fan with vigilante tendencies, that's pretty much it. Oh, except for basketball. Lots of basketball. Here's the full release list:

US Games
Fracture
NBA 2K9
NBA Live 2009
NBA 09: The Inside

EU Games
Lego Batman
Fracture
NBA 2K9
NBA Live 09

Asian Games
