To quote: Arad Productions is working with another division of Sony to bring Naughty Dog’s PlayStation 3 hit, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, to the silver screen. Arad believes the game’s protagonist, Nathan Drake, stands on his own and isn’t just an Indiana Jones facsimile.

"The best thing about Drake is he's not an archeologist," said Arad. "He's not a benevolent guy, but he's certainly not a great guy. Indiana Jones was always a good guy and he relentlessly did the right thing. Drake is a guy who's being hauled over to virtue throughout the game.

One of my favorite scenes is when he finally finds Drake's body and he discovers he was out to hide the statue instead of steal it. Suddenly, after all of these excuses he had of being a marauder like his forefather, now he discovers he was a hero. He's required to become a better guy and he does become a better guy. The secret of El Dorado ties into that because he doesn't become a greedy guy and doesn't become a monster."

When it comes to the big screen adventure, Arad said the plan is to mix things up a little bit. In the game, the action moves very quickly to the island, but the film will open things up a bit and add some depth before the island adventure. In addition, the film will explore some of the modern day piracy that’s going on today in South America, which is something that Naughty Dog had researched in developing this game.

"I really love playing games and I enjoy meeting all of these developers," said Arad. "I hope we become one of the premiere Hollywood game production studios because we really want to live up to what these guys have created. We know they've spent two to three years creating these games. We want these movies to not only expand the audience of these games but expand the worlds of these games. These are all babies we're taking care of."

So, more talking, more sexual tension, less gunplay. Avrad also stresses that Nathan Drake is not just another Indiana Jones clone, saying "Indiana Jones was always a good guy and he relentlessly did the right thing.

Drake is a guy who's being hauled over to virtue throughout the game". GameDaily reports that Max Payne, a 20th Century Fox release, has been re-cut to attain a broader audience-friendly PG-13 rating. The John Moore-directed film had initially earned an "R" rating from the Motion Picture Association of America due to its violent content.

What's notable, however, is that this time it was the director and not the studio forcing the issue of getting the more audience-friendly PG-13 rating.

Blu-ray.com is reporting that the upcoming Blu-ray release of ‘Iron Man’ has been recalled. A few weeks back, some of those receiving review copies reported trouble playing the disc in their Blu-ray players. Apparently, there is an authoring problem with the disc, and distributors have been issued direction to send back all product.

According to those distributors, Paramount is doing everything possible to get enough replacement discs to retailers in time for its September 30th release date, but it may not be able to meet the demand. If Paramount can’t get enough titles onto retail shelves, they may delay the title until October 7th.

Thanks to a member of the Korben site (linked above), who was on holiday in Morocco, that these photographs were made available.

It was written by Jordan Mechner, the creator of the play. The action will proceed at the time of Persia medieval. A king and his son the Prince, having made undergo a cuisante demolished with a Maharajah, kidnaps his daughter.

Plundering and ransacking throughout their passage, they discover a strange sand glass, as well as a special dagger. What our famous Prince does not know, it is that these two objects are actually powerful artifacts able to make one immortal and also allowing the holder to control time. In summary, the Prince will have to save his people before they all become demons.

Side casting, in the role of the Prince de Perse, is Jake Gyllenhaal (Brokeback Mountain, Zodiac) which will give life to one of the most famous heroes of gaming culture history.

The film Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, initially was planned for 2009 but has been pushed back, and as a result should hit big screens in 2010.

Fans shouldn't be surprised, however; the new Street Fighter film hopes to take the video game adaptation more seriously this time around instead of the Van Damme cheeseboulder that snuck up on the world in 1994 like one of Dhalsim's sly reacharounds. We're following Chun Li as she scours Thailand as a street fighter to find her father's killer, M. Bison (Neal McDonough).

Quick note: I don't know how, but she actually looks identical to how I imagined she would look when they announced the project-A dirty street fighter in Thailand, delving into the mucky muck. Street fighting isn't exactly a colorful world with costumes and junk.

One of the most high-profile HD DVD releases, ironically, will be from Warner, which won’t officially abandon the Toshiba-developed format until the end of May. The studio Wednesday announced it will release a two-disc special edition of the action hit Twister on all three home entertainment software formats, with the DVD and Blu-Ray Disc coming May 6 and the HD DVD edition following May 27.

Orders are due April 1 for the standard DVD and Blu-ray Disc and April 22 for the HD DVD. Special features include a commentary, an HBO First Look Special on the making of the film, and a 2003 History Channel special on tornadoes.

Paramount Home Entertainment, which after May will be the only major studio besides longtime supporter Universal Studios Home Entertainment to release titles on the HD DVD format, is expected to announce a full slate of HD DVD titles for the first quarter today (Thursday, Jan. 17) - a slate it was to unveil at CES.

Already in stores is Zodiac, which quietly shipped to retailers during CES - and the HD DVD Promotional Group’s self-imposed quiet period.

Next is Into the Wild, Sean Penn’s acclaimed adaptation of an inspirational true story, which arrives in stores March 4, along with the drama Things We Lost in the Fire.

DreamWorks Animation’s animated hit Bee Movie is next, coming March 11 with hours of extras, including Web-enabled downloadable features such as a "Build a Bee" avatar. The HD DVD also comes with a picture-in-picture storyboard reel, customizable menus, a trivia track and an interactive exploration of the world of bees.

Slated for later in the quarter, with no release date yet set, are The Kite Runner and The Jack Ryan Collection, the latter a set of four thrillers starring the fictional CIA operative: The Hunt for Red October, Clear and Present Danger and Patriot Games, each with Harrison Ford in the lead role, and The Sum of All Fears, in which Ben Affleck takes over as Ryan.

Universal Studios Home Entertainment is expected to announce upcoming HD DVD titles as well, including American Gangster, coming as a combo disc. Ken Graffeo, EVP of HD strategic marketing, said the studio was "very encouraged" by Toshiba’s recent player price drops and believes it will spur HD DVD software sales, particularly on the new release front.

The product announcements come in a week when the top 10 high-definition disc sellers are all Blu-ray Disc releases, according to an analysis of Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales numbers by Home Media Magazine’s market research department.

Net HD DVD sales, according to Nielsen, constituted only 15% of hi-def disc sales last week.
