Shortly following the earlier Site News from xtianoPL detailing PlayStation@Home working, but you can't play! we have a follow-up courtesy of rda990... According to THIS post (and also the pics/video below) he can play in PS3 Home now without being invited into the BETA program, however, there are no other users active he states as follows: I am the only one there. I can't see anyone there, it's like me being the last man on earth. There is currently no word on which titles benefit from this update, yet but we'll post further details as they become available.
Update: beefmanbeefer has confirmed it to be working with PS3 Firmware 2.20, however, based on reports it appears it doesn't work with lower Firmware versions.
He also shared a video (below) and states: Here is PS3 Home BETA crashing, what I do in the video is this: First I try to connect to the servers and it fails. Then I press X to try to connect again, and almost simultaneously I press the PS button and go to quit. It then says please wait and then the ps3 finally crashes when you hear the 2 beeps.

PlayStation®Home closed BETA version v0.9.4.2: Welcome to the latest update to PlayStation®Home closed BETA which will be available from Wednesday 25th June.
Below you’ll find information on all the changes and additions but we would also like to tell you about our plans for the next few weeks as we are preparing PS®Home for a larger audience and another change will happen shortly.
On about the 10th July we will be moving PS@Home to what will be its long term home and this will entail a new release of this code for you to download. This will also remove all your save data for which we apologise, but this will be the last time that happens and we will also be then setup to expand the beta soon after.
We will confirm dates for this next change shortly but now its time to talk you through the changes to PS@Home in v0.9.4.2

The update is supposed to drop this week (Thursday, July 31st). Other testers will not be invited until the closed BETA testers try it out first.
The update will not come as a patch, but rather a unique code sent to your email and redeemed via Account Management in your XMB.
HOME will then be part of the XMB rather than under the GAME section on your XMB.

PlayStation 3 Firmware Update 2.35 is now available for download via Network Update or below. From the PlayStation Blog, Firmware 2.35 simply improves the stability of certain PS3 titles, according to PSN director Eric Lempel.
The list of titles affected by the update went unnamed, but Lempel did note that it has nothing to due with the lock-up issues a number of PS3 owners are experiencing with Grand Theft Auto IV.

Today multiple Spanish Web sites have posted up what is apparently a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet showing SCEE's release schedule.
According to the document, PlayStation Home is set for release in July, 2008.
The .xls file is reportedly an attached file sent in an e-mail by SCEE to videogame Press people with scheduled releases.
Of course this is all just speculation until SCEE confirms it, but perhaps it's a clearer indication of a definitive Home public release timeframe.
