14w ago - Following up on the PS Vita Firmware 2.60 update, today Sony announced that mandatory PS Vita System Software update v2.61 is incoming (which blocks the VHBL Arcade Darts exploit) with details available below.
From Sony's Twitter PlayStation Vita announcement, to quote: "PS Vita system update 2.61 is coming soon, system software stability during use of some features has been improved."
From Wololo (via wololo.net/2013/08/30/ps-vita-2-more-vhbl-ports-for-firmware-2-61/):
We mentioned recently that both The Z and xXShinkirouXx are in possession of PSP exploits running on the latest Vita firmware 2.61, which was released yesterday. They both took it one step forward by providing proof of concept videos of each on of their exploits running VHBL on Vita firmware 2.61.
This should not be a surprise to those of you who know how these exploits work (Sony only patch the “entry points” to VHBL, but not the “concepts” that let the PSP emulator run VHBL on the Vita), but it’s still good to know we still have options on the latest firmware.
On a side note, Yosh (wth) confirmed to me that the changes (in the PSP emulator) between firmware 2.60 and 2.61 are minimal, confirming that this firmware update was solely made to block the 2.60 Arcade darts exploits. Enjoy the VHBL videos below
In his video, xXShinkirouXx shows Daedalus, Lamecraft (Minecraft clone on the Vita), Snes9xTYL, Bookr, Jelly Car, PSPlorer, gPSP running on the Vita 2.61. The Z showcases Snes9xTYL, Masterboy (a.k.a. Emumaster), gPSP, and Wagic on his own VHBL port.
Release dates (if any) for both these exploits are still unknown, as well as (of course) the games these exploits rely on.
Finally, Japanese developer 173210 has a VHBL port coming to those running firmware 2.61 using a PSN Japan title while Total-Noob is also gearing up for his custom emulator firmware (Source Code: wololo.net/talk/download/file.php?id=2701).

About: Total-Noob 6.60 TN-V4
6.60 TN-V4 is coming soon for every FW and for every user exploit. I was working very hard on TN-V4 and now I am too tired to make all exploits compatible. But as this is not hard to do, I give you guys the job to do it for the scene. If all exploits have been collected, I'll show you the pretty changelog of TN-V4.
Below, there's a list of all user exploits released until now. You have to adjust the path the values and compile the attached source code (it's only the loader!) for each user exploit and all its existing regions. If the loader succeed, you'll get a green screen, otherwise a red screen (more informations are in the source code).
Post the (working!) archive of the files in this thread (the whole savedata inclusive the compiled H.BIN, but please without unneccessary files, like files from VHBL).
(the name should be GameName_Region, in example: UNO_EU.RAR, or AcradeDarts_US.ZIP).

In other words, it blocks the latest exploit. Dont they realise the longer the exploit is out there the more people buy Vitas and use Vitas? Its their own stupidity that removes those users from their PSN which brings them money and more sales.
It looks like updates with single digit updates are just exploit fixes where double digit updates bring new features.
