To quote: I created this XML code for all you people interested in free 100% legal Internet TV and Movie Services. I use many popular Web sites which already provide these services and made it easy for you guys to access them.

Internet channels will appear in under the TV /Video Category it will give you access to 21 Internet Video Streaming Services. This includes the likes of BBC iplayer, ABC iview and many more. You can also stream selected free movies (hosted by Youtube). I have put in a TV Guide for referencing purposes and Radio channels including SHOUTcast...

You should know all the afore mentioned features run their respected websites to view content and are 100% legal. The sites are specifically created for the PS3, credits to the respected providers.

Install method is very easy.

1. Extract this (linked above) and Install PKG
2. Enable dev_blind from multiMAN and Copy the files from the XMB folder to dev_blind > vsh > resource > explore > xmb > paste here.

Installation

  • Install the file EP0001-BCET00001_00-0000111122223333-A0100-V0109-PE.pkg
  • Enable the dev_blind from multiMAN and copy the file category_tv.xml in the directory dev_blind / vsh / resource / explore / xmb.

Note: The 21 streaming channels are accessible only from firmware 4.21 and up. This code has a very tiny coded foot print and is incredibly light (less than 600kb) this will never ban your PS3.

That's all!

This will work on every firmware over 4.21.

Following up on his previous release and plugin, today PlayStation 3 developer exofreak made available an XML modification to permanently remove the annoying Singstar Icon from PS3 UK consoles complete with a video demo below.

Download: [Register or Login to view links]

To quote: Do you have that irritating singstar game on your xmb? Do you want to have a clean xmb with only the things you need present? It will remove singstar and also stop it from appearing

Well now with a simple package installation you can kiss the singstar logo goodbye!

Things needed:

  • MultiMAN over 4.XX.
  • Any PS3 with custom firmware 4.XX. (Theoretically it should work on rebug but i didn't try it)
  • A potato with more than 256 MB ram.

Tutorial:

Copy, FTP or download the file named "PS3~dev_hdd0~tmp~explore~xil2~game.zip"
Use multiman and double click on the zip and it will auto install and remove Singstar possibly forever

Video showing the removal:

Notes:

  • If this doesn't work delete the folder dev_hdd0/tmp/explore/xil2/game/gb and reapply through multiman.
  • The file can be downloaded directly into the ps3 via the official web browser and it can be saved to the ext hdd and applied via multiman.
  • You can bring singstar back by deleting dev_hdd0/tmp/explore/xil2/game/gb folder.
  • I don't know what all the fuss was about it took me around an hour to figure it out.
  • I didn't try it on rebug but it should work.

Please tell me if it doesn't work because i think different ps3s have different number folder.

Following up on his previous release, today PlayStation 3 homebrew developers exofreak and Nathan_r32_69 (aka Evilnat) have made available PluginX which is a multifunctional PS3 XMB Mods application with details below.

Download: [Register or Login to view links] / [Register or Login to view links] (Game Data)

To quote: This new app named PluginX allows you to install various plugins, gameboots and XMB mods into your PS3, with the help of a simple ui app.

Features:

  • Custom Gameboots: Replace or add a gameboot to your ps3 with 16 different gameboots.
  • Facebook Plugin: The friends category plugin which integrated facebook into your xmb menu.
  • Internet TV: TV channels plugin which installs over 30 free for all popular web tv apps including bbc itv, youtube, abc video, all into the xmb for ease of access. All the apps you Sony's incorporated adobe flash plugin for fast access.
  • Stealth XMB: Removes (*Install Package Files and app_home) option to make the PS3 look like an OFW system. They can be applied back with the same app.
  • Coldboot installer: This will install any coldboot present in the base of your USB drive.
  • This app simultaneously installs all the afore mentioned plugins, in a simple fashion. So you can change your gameboot, add Internet TV, and apply the Facebook all without ever rebooting the PS3!

Notes:

Dont load the in game XMB while running the app or you will have to hard reset. You can quit via the start button.

While in the app, every option requires a dual button press to apply, for safety reasons.
The Game Data is disguised as the data of Prototype 2, to minutely reduce ban risk for online users.

Credits:

The app was compiled and packaged by the popular developer Nathan_r32_69. He made this app wit an amazing and simple interface for everyone to understand. Thank Nathan, cause he is awesome!

The plugins were created by me (Ahmed Khail aka exofreak) and released individually on the network. I also formated the app and recompiled it for a few options.

This is nice, but its not quite right. Is it possible to re-integrate the proper gameboot from pre 3.00, so we get proper fade in + audio for the gameboot? This is a step in the right direction though.
