Video: E3 Flasher PS3 Slim 3.70 Downgrade to 3.55 Firmware

138w ago - Following up on the initial news, today the E3 Team have made available a video of their E3 Flasher downgrading a PS3 Slim 3.70 Firmware console to version 3.55 without any soldering required.

To quote: E3DIY team announces a successful Slim Downgrade v3.70 to v3.55 with our new E3 FLASHER!

In only FIVE minutes, the whole downgrade progress was completed!

Time is short and operation is very easy, this is because of our exclusive special E3 FLASHER design:

  • ONE-Button Operation and NOR Flash onboard!
  • E3 FLASHER compatible all NAND FLASH and NOR FLASH consoles
  • With SLIM Consoles, no need for any soldering!
  • But with PHAT Consoles, some soldering will be needed!

In this video there no images of the E3 FLASHER as we need to keep our design under wraps until it is ready for release, I hope everyone understands.

The official version should be released next week, at that time there will be more videos and pictures and everything will be available to the public.

Also below is an E3 Flasher PS3 Dual Boot 3.70 to 3.55 Firmware video and details via e-mail:

E3 FLASHER - Dual Boot (3.70 to 3.55)

  • E3DIY team success dual boot with E3 FLASHER, you can switch 3.7 and 3.55 in few only a few seconds!
  • Easy with 1 key operation.
  • E3 company will release all details like picture, installation, operation and price next week.
  • Team E3DIY get another great progress for PS3 with E3 FLASHER, it will release at the same time next week.

PS: 4times switch showes same MAC address, to prove it is the same console.

Finally, from damox, to quote on PS3 3.70 to 3.55 Firmware downgrading via Dospiedra's downgrade v2 patches:

This post will look at the different DATE-CODES that are present on the casing of a PS3 and if that DATE-CODE relates to a console version that can currently be downgraded from 3.70 to 3.55 using dospiedra’s V2 downgrade or a FAT console alternative.

DATE-CODES

The principle behind DATE-CODES is simple: the first character represent the YEAR, and the second character represents the QUARTER of that year it that console was manufactured.

DATE-CODE of “XY” would mean the console was manufactured in the “Y” QUARTER of YEAR “X”. Simple right?

6A - Downgradable (Never Produced?)
6B - Downgradable (Never Produced?)
6C - Downgradable (Never Produced?)
6D - Downgradable
7A - Downgradable
7B - Downgradable
7C - Downgradable
7D - Downgradable
8A - Downgradable
8B - Downgradable
8C - Downgradable
8D - Downgradable
9A - Downgradable
9B - Downgradable
9C - Downgradable (Slim Introduction?)
9D - Downgradable
0A - Downgradable
0B - Downgradable
0C - Downgradable
0D - Downgradable
1A - Downgradable (Factory Firmware 3.55 and lower only!)
1B - NOT Downgradable
1C - NOT Downgradable (Not out yet?)
1D - NOT Downgradable (Not out yet?)

The Date code can be found in the following locations (depending on your console type):

PS3 FAT: Sticker on the back.
PS3 Slim (CECH2 Series): Sticker on the bottom.
PS3 Slim (CECH3 Series): Sticker on the back.

UPDATE 1: I have been told that only consoles that come with firmware 3.55 and lower from factory are the only consoles that the downgrade should be attempted with.

Hi! Do you know exactly which CFW you had on the PSP? I spent hours the other day repeatedly testing the original and Nabnab-modified versions of PS3Jig without success from my "fat" PSP.

I don't remember the exact CFW on the PSP at 6.60, but at 5.50 I used GEN-D3. After I tried everything on the fat PSP, I tried on a slim 2000-series unit without any luck either. I tried different USB cables in combination with everything and still nothing happened.

I just found an older service mode BIN for the E3 card reader and tried that, but the E3 still won't turn blue in the PS3.

well i had the same problem with the 5 double beeps brick on my slim ps3 when i changed it back to a CEX machine *no pun intended lol jk* from a DEX machine and i used a first gen psp that i downgraded to the right firmware for the app to work right and i just used the ps3jig app and it got it into service mode and i fixed that brick by myself and that scared the crap out of me when i bricked it >.<

it took me like two weeks just to figure that out i tried using the ps3jig app on other versions of my psp but it said that it was waiting for the ps3 to be connected and just hanged there forever

I'm following this guide for the 5 double beep brick but my E3 card reader won't turn blue when I power up the PS3 and I can't get it into service mode.

The E3 should turn orange, then blue and a few seconds later the PS3 should shut down. Instead, the E3 turns orange, then turns off, and a minute or two later the PS3 eventually shuts down. Someone else with the same problem made a video showing the problem:

The E3 card reader turns blue when I drag e3downgrade 12.03.bin to the upgrader part of it, so it seems to be flashing okay. In addition to using the E3 device, I tried a couple of PSPs running PS3Jig and those both hung on the driver started message.

Anybody have any idea why the E3 card reader won't work properly in the PS3? It's a CECHA01 if that makes any difference.

From Joonie86: It seems that if you make this homebrew with any fixed pkg in ISO format, I assume this will work on any ODEs. Unfortunately, I can't make SWAP disc for my 4k /OFW 4.55 at the moment, I can't test this.

Wondering if anybody wants to confirm this. If this this working, pkg install will be a lot easier than using IDC, multiman or other file manager.

The E3 ODE OS 2.0 latest firmware update is released. The release includes bypass of the security measures introduced in the infamous ode-blocking 4.55 ofw from Sony. The bypass has a catch which is to create a Blu-ray boot disc for the games on the external hdd.

This means you must own or know someone who owns a Blu-ray disc writer which can be a real pain for some, but this is a measure for 4k ps3's only. A new feature implemented is the ability to boot games in folder format instead of iso which is a big plus.

Remember that for this you will need a original eboot or a resigned one. They will release a one-click resign software soon. Also in the next firmware they will release a pkg installer.
