Sponsored Links
140w ago - Since the release of DOStoPS3 many PS3 homebrew enthusiasts have been porting DOS games to the PlayStation 3, and this weekend French user sephirothff has done so with The Elder Scrolls Arena and The Elder Scrolls II Daggerfall for fans of the series.

To quote, roughly translated: We have a little fun and discover or rediscover titles only known the Elder Scroll, the imminent release of Skyrim put me in mind to run the first two games of the series on PS3 via DOSBox.

This small project aims to run the game The Elder Scrolls correctly on PS3.

The first two games of the series is free on the official website of the series (elderscrolls.com) so we can enable us to distribute and adapt. About The Elder Scrolls 3 I think we can forget a port on the job saw this crazy ask, the game is commercially available PC.

Here is The Elder Scrolls Arena and Daggerfall The Elder Scrolls, but both games work but row for the moment, so feel free to experiment with different configurations in the file-0.74.conf dosbox and you can also map the keyboard buttons on your controller (a keyboard and mouse works too) with the file-mapping 0.74.map both are in the folder.

Dosbox in / dev_hdd0/game/TESA00001 and TESD00001 (you can also map the buttons directly involved with the L3 button, however, must be repeated each time the game for this solution). If you have a better config to provide, post them here, it will change the proposed version.

Acknowledgments:

  • Bethesda Softworks for games elderscrolls.com
  • Robo Hobo for the port of Dosbox on PS3
  • dosbox.com for the excellent emulator dosbox
  • projet-french-arena.org for the French partial translation of TES Arena

Today [Register or Login to view links] released a DOSMount DOS Package to install DOSBox games on the PS3 console and posted a DOSMount help video below.

Download: [Register or Login to view links] (English Keyboard Layout) / [Register or Login to view links] (German Keyboard Layout) / DOSBox Games

To quote: I created a PKG with all software needed and ready configured mounts to install any DOS-Game from USB without having to create a PKG for each one. I call it DosMount

The purpose is to make it as easy as possible to install any game as if you were on your PC (or even easier)

In related news, [Register or Login to view links] has made available what he calls GoodFrag's Spam Remover for Mateo Godlike's DOS releases.

Download: [Register or Login to view links]

To quote: Hi all, I wish there was no need to write something like this, but sadly, there is.

What this does: This looks on your PS3 for any of "mateogodlike's" DOS PKG's you have installed installed and removes the childish ads he slapped on each of his titles.

How to use this: Install the PKG, run the app, follow the prompt to press R3 then Square, and exit the app when finished.
Then, next time you run one of his "releases", the ad will disappear!

What this doesn't do: Add controls to any of his packages (quite frankly, releasing games without mapped controls is pretty dumb, but I'm not here to fix his mistakes, just get the ads off our XMB's)

Will this work on Mateo's future releases? No, but if he insists on still packing his name into everything, I'll release an update to fix the new titles as well as these.

I looked at what you did, didn't you know you could just map the game folder instead of mounting each specific folder separately? Sadly Dopsbox has the same 8-character-foldername-restriction that older builds of MS-DOS had. Mapping each folder ensures the right SFO ends up in the right folder without any truncating.

Why did you release this? Doesn't he deserve credit for his work? His artwork bares his name, that's more than enough IMO. (besides, he spent more time on the "art" than the packages themselves)

So, hopefully some of you find this helpful, I know I couldn't stand SPAM on my XMB, now you don't have to either!

Finally, the DOSMount help video is available below via YouTube!

Although there appears to be little interest, here is another update: mateogodlike.com/2011/06/ps3-zork-dos-game-port-pkg.html

Download: [Register or Login to view links]

BEST PLAYED WITH USB KEYBOARD. This is for CFW 3.55. Zork was one of the first interactive fiction computer games and an early descendant of Colossal Cave Adventure. The first version of Zork was written in 1977–1979 on a DEC PDP-10 computer by Tim Anderson, Marc Blank, Bruce Daniels, and Dave Lebling, and implemented in the MDL programming language.

All four were members of the MIT Dynamic Modelling Group. "Zork" was originally MIT hacker slang for an unfinished program. The implementors briefly named the completed game Dungeon, but changed it back to Zork after receiving a trademark violation notice from the publisher of Dungeons & Dragons. Zork has also been adapted to a book series.

I am leaving it so users can map their own controller settings.

Download: [Register or Login to view links]

This is for CFW 3.55. Maniac Mansion is a 1987 graphic adventure game developed and published by Lucasfilm Games. A comedy horror parody of B movies, the game's plot follows teenager Dave Miller as he attempts to rescue his girlfriend from the mansion of an evil mad scientist. The player uses a point-and-click control system to guide Dave and two of his friends through the mansion while avoiding its dangerous inhabitants while solving puzzles.

CONTROLS (Joystick):

Δ Triangle = Start
[] Square = Enter
DPad = Arrow Keys

Basically all you need is those simple controls.

How to play: Maneuver the arrows to choose the action at the botton of the screen. When you first start you pick two characters and you get to play as them. You can switch between characters throughout the game at any time by clicking the action at the bottom.

Objective of the game: Help Rescue Sandy from a mansion of an evil mad scientist.
