138w ago - Today garyopa at PSX-Scene.com (linked above) reports that Sony appears to be targeting the PS JailBreak, PSFreedom and PSGroove related PS3 hacks and has shared numerous court documents for those interested.
From one of the documents, to quote: "Similarly targeted document subpoenas or deposition notices to any other third party who SCEA learns may be involved in the distribution or sale of the PS Jailbreak software, known as, for example, PSGroove, OpenPSJailbreak, and PSFreedom, or who may have knowledge of the distribution or sale of this illicit software."
PS3 hacker Mathieulh is also mentioned in one of the documents as recently proclaiming to be one of 20 individuals behind PSGroove, to quote: "Mathieu Hervais told BBC News he was one of about 20 hackers involved in PSGroove's development."
Just under a month ago Sony was granted an injunction by Australian Courts on the sale of PSJailBreak PS3 modchips, followed by blocking PS JailBreak and PS3 proxy methods with the release of the PS3 Firmware 3.42 update, so only time will tell what their next move is.

Imho i don't see how Sony uses an jig that emulates a 6 port USB hub.
"By attaching and detaching fake devices to the ports of the hub the dongle has control over the mallocing and freeing of various blocks of memory that hold the device and configuration descriptors, exploit is a Heap Overflow attack. The exploit carefully manipulates the heap by plugging and unplugging fake usb devices with large device descriptors until the device on port 4 which misreports its size to overwrite one of malloc's boundary tags."
well quick explained something like that, that would just be wierd, they do have a jig, but i assume it wouldn't emulate a hub in that way, it would just respond to a challange or something.
but well i'm just guessing but why would they use any kinda attack on their own system
hate to burst your bubble, but from the research i've done, jailbreaking is only legal on iPhones, and the ruling doesnt cover PS3's.
That being said, i hate $ony for this. This isnt a challenge, but can someone prove me wrong? am i being nieve?
i guess the main question if it gets to trial, is how the makers of PSJB came to acquire the 'stolen tech'. If a $ony dev took it and sold it, without telling the buyer where he got it from, then I don't think $ony can legally get the sellers and developers to stop production/sales because there hasn't been any wrong doing on the parts of the devs, just the thief at $ony... But that's if the jig came from sony and not some guy who figured it out.
why oh why do the americans always bring up hitler and the war as their responce to any one british that they disagree with? its the reason I dont care that I cant go on the PSN to play games, every time I used to go on COD I would have some little kid telling me that america came and saved us from Hitler (have to remind them that as allies it was something they should have done from the start and thus have prevented what turned out to be a huge waste of way too many lives)
The only reason the US of A finally came to our side was that they got their noses bloodied by Germanys Allies the Japannese. Thats enough history the future of America looks a bit grim at the moment as the goverments that you say are their for you and are removable by election etc are all run by members of the illuminati/new world order (look it up its a scary proposition)
thats enough rants, god bless the united world of sony hatters not united kingdom or united states lol.
I thought the whole idea of PS Groove was that is a was an Open Source alternative that can run on a USB Dev Flash unit? That was there is no Sony Code involved and users can download and develop freely. I might be wrong, and maybe its based on leaked Sony code/hardware but if not then I don't see how a court could side in their favor. (Well I could see how since money makes the world go 'round)
