38w ago - Following up on the PS3 DEX Firmware 4.20 updates, I've now gotten all the Sony PS3 Debug / Test Firmware versions not currently in the Downloads section and will upload them as time permits beginning with versions 1.01 and 1.02 below for collectors.

Official Sony Filenames:

PS3UPDAT.PUP.101.001.forDEX.release.2006101102
PS3UPDAT.PUP.102.002.forDEX.release.2006100801

As always, keep in mind these PUP updates will currently NOT install on a retail PS3, and so they are intended for examination and comparison purposes only.

We have 100% confirmed that running this updater on a retail PS3 will not damage it, however, it will give the following error before the installation completes: The data type is not supported. (8002F029)

well that's too bad that no new sdk tools didn't leak... i think that would have been a little more useful... lmao hopefully it might lead to more supported games on cfws? *crossing fingers*

Two fold - for this to run, there are certain flags inside the system that can't be changed without Sony's keys. Furthermore, any JB'd system now can access more things than on a debug box.

i am by no means a programmer or developer of any kind, but would someone be kind enough to try to explain why this wouldn't lead to CFW for retail consoles?
