Showtime PS3 Media Player Channel 9 Plugin Updated to v1.3

127w ago - This weekend PlayStation 3 homebrew developer facanferff has updated the Showtime PS3 Media Player Channel 9 Plugin to version 1.3 with the changes outlined below.

Download: Showtime PS3 Media Player Channel 9 Plugin v1.3

Showtime PS3 Media Player Channel 9 Plugin v1.3 Changelog:

  • Add: Bookmarks
  • Add: Search for Shows, Series, Blogs and Events
  • Add: Video page
  • Add: Sort Section
  • Add: Current Events
  • Add: What's New feed
  • Enhancement: Allow user to choose format of video/audio
  • Enhancement: New logo (thanks GPatel)
  • Fix: Tags feed (broke due to the new layout of channel9 for tags)

Installation: Put that zip archive (unextracted) on /dev_hdd0/game/HTSS00003/USRDIR/settings/installedplugins

FAQ:

Q: Sometimes when I'm navigating between feeds, I get a message saying "Connection timed out", what's wrong?

A: The developer (facanferff) is aware of this issue and apparently the reason is a bug with the Showtime itself, for now when it happens just go back and try again, it should then work

You should definitely add support for MKV files!! That would make this program sky-rocket into legend!

I'm sick of hearing about XBMC... these are still early days as far as homebrew media players for PS3s, they will get better.
I agree with you - however, it depends on how it is referenced. 'When will we get XBMC?' is pretty annoying, and I'd rather have a native PS3 app just like this. Just keep in mind the standard it set for homebrew multimedia playback and management.

Might the spu-medialib stuff be of use? I don't know much (anything) about multimedia programming, but the cell-based functions could be used as a basis for implementation here, yes?

i could convert mkv to avchd but some large files (mostly 1080p) don't want to convert at all and with the new firmware update 720p movies get the image cropped at the top right 1/4th of the screen upon playback.
