To quote: This is the last release (by me) before setting the 3.0 stamp. Hopefully there are no serious issues lurking and if so I hope to be able to release 3.0 in a couple of days.
I know there is still alot of bugs (although not as many as I would expect, to be honest) to be squashed and a lot more features to be implemented.
On top of this I have a lot more ideas in my head for stuff I would like to add. But as always, time is a limiting factor.
A list of changes since 2.99.401 release:
Popup menu redesigned a bit
Add support for Windows 1251 codepage
upnp: Make sure that we really find subtitles when doing a blind probe. This bug has caused problems for some people making some video not start at all.
Make it possible to enter credentials in the auth popup that is not saved to disk
Add support for passing mimetypes internally. This speed up media loading and playback start.
PS3: Update XMB icon (better centered)
Make SRT subtitle discovery better
Add support for setting subtitle output delay
Add seek-by-thumbnail in the command popup menu (looks very bad on PS3 at the moment though)
ui: Redesign the auth popup
Improve the setting views
PS3: Add support for BD remote
Add support for cycling between audio and subtitle tracks using a single button
Make presentation of audio and subtitle tracks better
Improve subtitle rendering. There is a lot of changes here. see bc0cf58e and 76142920
PS3: Display all reasonable entries found in system VFS root as services on their own
PS3: If display operates in non-square pixel 16:9 mode, scale UI accordingly
Use libav.org's recently released 0.7 version (with a couple of bug fixes on top)

Hi everyone, I'm new to play station 3 but I love online gaming, I also love watching movies but what I want to know is. Can I install showtime/navi-x on my ps3 slim & still be able to receive updates from playstation, access psn & online gaming? I don't want to install showtime/navi-x & lose the ability to upgrade & play online.
its really weird that since the navi-x plugin was released 180upload and billionupload links do not work till today. and searching the internet i haven't found the answer to this problem as 95% of the links are from these hosts !!! or is it a issue i am having ?? i hope some of you can help.
I always have issues with Showtime. Some upgrades ago I lost the tiled view and I got the list view with no icons for everything, besides all the channels I pinned down in the home page disappeared.
This last update was great at first, I received a notification for a new version from inside the application, it downloaded and installed fine and all the bugs went away: the change views option returned and I got the lost channels back.
It is an excellent version... but after close it, every time I try to launch Showtime again I receive an error message. It runs fine from inside Multiman. I will try to delete it an reinstall it from scratch.
Integration with thetvdb.com
Chapter support for movies
Support for subtitle plugins
And as usual, a lot of bugs squashed
ps3: Remove "/dev_hdd0/tmp/turnoff" before shutting down system
Fix broken colors in VOBSUB
Fix regression causing crash with embedded DVD/VOBSUB tracks
httpclient: Fix a regression when using range queries to determine filesize
Caused problems with minidlna (possibly other servers)
Fix the oversized album art during music playback
ps3: Fix video stuttering in some high bitrate video streams
Fix broken date-sorting (Allow user to sort on newest or oldest first)
Rework subtitle scheduling
This allows us to pick subtitles that are out of sync with video stream. Also makes it possible to do negative subtitle time shifting for embedded subs
ps3: Increase audio buffer size
Fix stuttering playback with some audio formats (APE is one)
Fix problem that caused picture stuttering in some movies after 20-25 minutes
Add support for LPCM in DVD playback
Add movie chapters support where supported by file formats
Chapters can be found in menu during video playback next to seek thumbnails and audio/subltitle tracks
Fix broken seeking in FLAC files
Add support for subtitle plugins
This also removes the built-in support for opensubtitles.
Opensubtitles is now available as a plugin. No username + password is needed as opensubtitles.org allows anonymous logins
The list of subtitles are now sorted based on user preferred languages
Fix a bug that made "Custom query" impossible to erase in the metadata editor. It would come back next time the item was scanned
Fix a crash that was caused by invalid markup tags in SRT files
Typically this would happen if the SRT file contained a subtitle entry with just one tag that was invalid. Now such invalid tags will be
presented as normal text instead.
ps3: Fix a crash on PS3 when playing AAC HEv2 files
This was caused by too small stack for the threads
Fix recently introduced crash in opensubtitles.org module
Add stretch-to-widescreen and stretch-to-fullscreen as options during video playback
Add support for getting metadata from thetvdb.com
Allow user to adjust subtitle timing 10 minutes in increments of 0.5 seconds
Improved support for opensubtitles.org
Showtime will now search in opensubtitles.org database using the movie title and optionally the IMDB ID if it manages to resolve that
To limit the number of returned results it will only include the subtitles that matches the languages configured in Settings -> Languages.
If no such configuration has been entered all results will be displayed.
ps3: Sign pkg files to work with 4.xx CFW
Fix some issues related to mono audio in videos
Use external metadata (TMDB, etc) for video title in video OSD
Avoid doing external metadata lookup for very short file names
Add support for playback of HLS (Http Live Streaming) URLs
Add support for user configurable fonts
To install and use a new font put the font someplace where Showtime can browse it. When clicking on the font Showtime will what you want to use the font for. Showtime will copy the font to an internal storage location.
To select between installed fonts or to reset to default, go to Settings -> Look and Feel -> Fonts
