104w ago - This weekend PlayStation 3 developer Mateo Godlike has released several PS3 homebrew DOS game ports for 3.55 Custom Firmware including Rebug CFW.

Download: HUGO House of Horrors PS3 DOS Game Port PKG / Body Blows Shareware Demo PS3 DOS Game PKG / Operation Body Count PS3 DOS Game PKG / Rayman PS3 DOS Game PKG / Clyde's Adventure PS3 DOS Game PKG / SVN

Below are the related ReadMe details on each, as follows:

HUGO House of Horrors DOS Game Port

Changelog V1.0

  • Inital Release
  • Frameskip set to 1
  • Minor Walking Issues where he kinda floats along only with the sound on. (press F2 on your keyboard or virtual keyboard to turn it off. It only lasts like 30 seconds anyways)
  • ICON0.PNG.

I am leaving it so users can map their own controller settings.

Description: Hugo's House of Horrors is a computer game released in 1990. Gray Design Associates (GDA) created a parser-based adventure game, reminiscent of the Sierra Entertainment "Quest" games (such as King's Quest and Space Quest) and thematically similar to Maniac Mansion. The game also features tongue-in-cheek comedy.

In the game, the player controls the protagonist, Hugo, who has come to a haunted house to look for his girlfriend Penelope, who hasn't been seen since she went to babysit there. The premise bears similarity to LucasFilm Games' Maniac Mansion, released in 1987, where the main character enters a mansion in order to rescue his girlfriend from a mad scientist.

The player moves Hugo around by using the arrow keys on the keyboard, and controls his actions by entering commands on the keyboard (or, in the later-released Windows version, one can use the mouse).

Body Blows Shareware Demo DOS Game

This is for CFW 3.55. Body Blows is an Amiga Versus fighting game game. It was released in 1993 by Team 17. The game is compatible with all Amiga systems, including the CDTV system with joystick support. It was followed by Body Blows Galactic and Ultimate Body Blows. A version for DOS was also released. The game has a lot of similarities to Street Fighter 2, for example, both had two characters with projectile, rising uppercut and spinning kick special moves and played identically (as with Ryu and Ken).

I am leaving it so users can map their own controller settings.

V1.0

  • Initial Release
  • Runs Very Smooth

Expect to see:

  • Control Configuration
  • Better ICONO (Non Fuzzy) and PIC1
  • CFW 3.41 Package

Operation Body Count DOS Game

This is for CFW 3.55. Operation Body Count is a 1994 first-person shooter that used the Wolfenstein 3D ray casting engine. It was developed and published by Capstone Software.

I am leaving the controller settings so users can map their own.

Changelog:

V1.1

  • Frameskip set to 1
  • Added New ICON0 and Pic1

V1.0

  • Initial Release

Expect to see:

  • Control Configuration
  • Better ICONO (Non Fuzzy) and PIC1
  • CFW 3.41 Package

Rayman DOS Game

This is for CFW 3.55. When a villain known only as Mr. Dark appears, trouble brews in Rayman's world. Mr. Dark captures the Toons - source of light and Rayman's friends. With no more light, evil creatures begin to roam, making the world unsafe for everyone. Its up to you, as Rayman, to free your friends and put an end to Mr. Dark's dastardly schemes!

I am leaving it so users can map their own controller settings.

V1.0

  • Initial Release
  • Runs Very Smooth

Expect to see:

  • Control Configuration
  • Better ICONO (Non Fuzzy) and PIC1
  • CFW 3.41 Package

Clyde's Adventure DOS Game

This is a for CFW 3.55. Clyde's Adventure is a platform computer game released by Moonlite Software in 1992. The objective of the game is to explore castles, collect gems, and find the exit. Clyde, the main character, has a supply of energy that depletes whenever he walks, jumps, or falls from a great height. If his energy reaches 0, it causes Clyde to die with a shriek. With no "enemies," Clyde's Adventure is predominantly a puzzle game. The challenge comes from avoiding traps, using Clyde's magic wand to manipulate the environment, and finding the most efficient route before Clyde runs out of energy.

Changelog:

V1.3

  • Frameskip set to 3. Appears to run smoother. Still kinda slow
  • 3.41 Package

V1.2

  • Fixed Fuzzy Backgroud PIC1.PNG

V1.1

  • Fixed Fuzzy ICONO.PNG

V1.0

  • Inital Release
  • Still need to work on Controls but for now you need to bring up the keyboard by using L3 and clicking a Letter on the screen to choose your option.
  • Click R3 to use the analog Nubs to Control.
  • It runs good only with no sound because DOSBox is still not perfect.

So, today I decided to play around with making my own DOS ports of some games I had laying around, and I actually got a few working pretty well. Here is Jones in the Fast Lane (using Sound Blaster, cycles at 5000).

It would be very nice to have a refreshed dosbox port to play games that require above a paltry 386.

I may actually try to package some of my old dos games for fun, just to see how this works.

No... Dos actually existed before windows. Its pretty much everything that was made before windows 95, windows 3.1 was pretty much just a GUI for Dos so MOSTLY anything that will play on win 3.1 will play through Dosbox.

I like this. By DOS I'm thinking Windows, and I'm guessing I'm right?

So we really need to add pretty much the whole sierra dos game collection... Leisure Suit Larry Collection, Kings Quest, Quest for Glory. Oh yeah and not a Sierra game but Jagged Alliance and the 1st Carmageddon!
